Hey guys, i recently turboed my 98 eclipse 420a. Everything is good except my 38 mm wastegate does not work on my log manifold. Basically the plunger that plugs the manifold hole is too big for the hole. It is tapered on the edges, but has a slot in the middle, but not where tapered. This slot is letting boost right out because the tapered part is not sealing the hole but rather the plunger is sitting flat causing boost to leak out the slot. Basically im wondering if its possible to buy just a plunger or a whole new wastegate. I have a cheap XS Power wastegate

I am also wondering the 38mm would be the plunger size correct? Would say a 35mm still bolt up to my manifold even though the 38 bolted right up, also would i still be able to use my dump tube. I had to do a lot of work to get it to fit right.

Why do you not contact the wastegate manufacturer regarding the specs on the valve?

Pictures would help in describing your issue as well.

Heres a couple pics of what im talking about. you can see the taper on the edges, but they dont seal. The flat part with the cutout in it is what actually hits when i take the valve and set in on to the hole on the manifold. Is there some sort of valve seat that needs to go in here?

well thats good to know. I cant seem to find one anywhere. I actually e-mailed SX to see if they could help me out. Well see hoe that works. I would guess that the tial fire ring would not work as they are different wastegates. opinions?

Also how does that fire ring mount? Does it just sit in between the manifold and the wastegate valve?
