hey guys hows it going, first off i want to say sorry if there is already a thread about this, im new to the site but am in dier need of help.

i have a question about my automatic 1997 eclipse gsx. it has an ingen front mount cooler and an exhaust system. also it has a 16g turbo running at 7psi (a little larger than the stock) everything else on the car is stock

so i just bought it the other day and it has a problem dieing whenever it comes to a stop really fast. if you are easy on it when slowing down, sometimes it dosnt die.

also it has a over drive button that i dont know ANYTHING about, when the over drive is OFF, the car idles pretty high like even if you take your foot off the gas. when the over drive button is ON, the car will idle normaly (when you take your foot off the gas going like 20mph, it will go back to idle rpms around 1000)

the only things i could think of could be
-maybe i need a better fuel pressure regulator
-air control valve
-idle air control valve (i dont know if these are the same)
-and maybe the MAP sensor?

ANY help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED i reallly dont like my car dieing on me

no, the bov is not recirculated (to my knowledge)
what are the possibilites of having a vacum problem.. like what could cause a vacum problem.

also im taking it to get tuned tomorow at a mitsubishi dealership, could it possibly be that the tubro is too big for the stock ecu?

alrite will do thanks for the information.

also does anyone know what is up with the over drive? i dont understand why it would idle so high when the over drive is off (it will stay at like 3-4k rpm)

when overdrive is on, it idles normaly like when you take your foot off the gas it goes down to 1k rpm

Do a search on boost leak test and then do one. No that turbo is not to big and at 7psi you are not over running anything. You have an auto so its not like you take your foot off the gas to shift so not recirculating is not going to mess with you to bad except when you take your foot off the gas and come to a stop which is when you are having problems. So get a recirculating hose going back into your intake. Also curious, how do you that the dealership is going to tune your car??

i was just going to go to the dealership to have them take a look at it and see if they can check for any leaks ect.. one of my friends said they can run diognostics on it and maybe tune it but he was not for sure on the tune part.. can you even tune a stock ecu?

and i do not know what a dsmlink is.. sounds like something you hook up to your car temporaily to control your boost and stuff like that in your car, correct me if im wrong

Unless your dealership knows its way around dsm's i wouldnt take it back to them i would take the advice that was given by all these knowledgable members.
1. recirc your blowoff valve
2. perform a blt
3. if you cannot perform 1 or 2 step away from the dsm until you have help from someone who knows what they are doing

if the whole car is stock other than the turbo, fmic, and exhaust you could be hitting a fuel cut due to your injectors being too small and not having a fuel pump that can keep up.

everyone is so quick to judge it's a boost leak, it is common but you'd feel the car has no power and wont really go above 2k.

He is not getting fuel cut at 7psi. Besides his problem is wanting to stall when coming to a stop. Just because one might have a boost leak does not mean the car won't really go over 2k rpms. It would take a blown coupler or the like to cause a problem like that.

:nono: definitely not fuel cut

i can exceed 2k rpms i took it on the highway yesterday and got it to 6-7. but i dont think it is a fuel cut, i honestly think it could be a vac leak or the vac sensor, but i am still going to do a boost test on it thought just to be safe.. just gotta get the tester, but in the meanwhile im gunna do minor maintenance, i might try and get bigger fuel injectors just to see if thats the deal

by the way, thank you to everyone taking time out of there day to consider helping me with my problem, i really appreciate it

:beatentodeath:Not trying to beat a dead horse but i didnt see you say anything about recirculating your bov that should be very high on your list seeing as most likely that is your issue

i wasn't saying it was a fuel cut but it's just another possibility. cant rule out anything unless it's been tried.
