Yea all auto's tranny cars have them. If the tranny fluid gets to hot it warps internal parts and causes slipping + more. :toobad: My engine coming along slowly. Im waiting on my head to get out of the machine shop. After I get that back Im bolting it all up and dropping it in hopefully this weekend. I'll post pics in my engine rebuild thread as soon as I get it back. :thumb:

If you need any help with re-assembly let me know. I found my chrystler service manual to be the most helpful for torque specs. Good Luck with your build :thumb:

I have a radiator replacement for an auto in mine... I use the stock style trans cooler for a PS cooler since the stock one is gone to clear the FMIC...

Adding a bigger cooler to an auto is easy...

thanks man ill have to hit you up whenever i start putting back together.

Indeed 2g's are external, atleast turbo models. Mine was in the driver's side fenderwell/bumper area. That guy just has upgraded lines or ss line covers.

you can even put a cooler on a manual tranny, you make fittings that match the threads on the drain & fill to AN's and then run out from there. You have to pull fluid out through the drain (and you will NEED a pump to move the fluid, since it's not pressurized the way an automatic is) and then you just run the line from the cooler back to the transmission fill. On a manual it's pretty much un-necessary unless you are going rallying or road racing, as the fluids shouldn't be a problem without those kinds of stress.

wow that sounds like a PITA. the only reason why i want to do it is because it seems in this 90 degree heat of fl that the longer i drive the car the harder it becomes to shift. i just put some penzoil syncromesh in and im still feeling that out. so far its working pretty good

I honestly think that the synchromesh is too light for really good gearset protection. Some of the guys up here are running 2:1 NEO RHD & Synchromesh, and they are reporting that with a good tranny, it shifts very smooth, like with straight synchro, but that the NEO gives way better protection, especially since they are making a lot of power (11 second cars & faster).

In my slow stinkin' cars I run Redline MTL/MT90 mix, usually 2:1 with more MT90 than MTL, though in a car with worn synchros, i'd reverse that. Gear oil experiments are really good. I think next time i change the fluid in the galant, i'm going to 2:1 MTL:lightweight shockproof. That way i get the more slippery fluid, but some additional protection from the heavy stuff. ;)

Or i'm just insane.
