How much is a brand new transfer case? It should be under warranty but i bought the car from idiots at a dealership in NY and i live 3 hrs away. They are so far giving me $250 but my lawyer is going for the full $980 quote i got. The quote is for $860 parts $120 labor. How much does a transfer case cost, and where can i get it?

how and why did it fail??

there is a major safety recall on every transfer case on all awd dsms

let us know why you need to replace it already.

Well I bought the car with 69,000 miles for $6,500 so i expected the car to have a few problems. Since i bought it in NY but live in PA i had to get it inspected in PA. I got it done by my friends dad who owns a shop, and he determined that the check engine light was on because the awd was not working due to a transmission problem and sent me to his friend a trans specialist. I looked up the recall and the recall is for leaks in the yoke and if there is a leak and there appears to be damage due to the leak they will replace it. I called my Mitsubishi dealer and they said if its not leaking its not covered. Jerry's Transmissions said that it wasn't leaking and it wasn't the yoke, but the whole transfer case needs to be replaced. I didn't really ask much more than that because I know i wasn't getting dicked around due to the relationship. (it was checked out free).

Just like the guy above me said, there is a safety recall on the transfer case and the dealer should replace it for free for life to my understanding. I have had a transfer case fail going 70mph on the freeway and the dealer tried to void my warranty due to my mods but they ended up giving me a new one anyway since I threw up such a huge fight. When the transfer case failed it also broke my center diff, rear diff, and both rear axels. I think a new transfer case is around $1300. I would buy a used one unless you have a lot of dinero then I would go to www.partznet.com and order one over the phone letting them know you want the club DSM discount.

Ah. Your friend's dad is an idiot. What sensor did he dream was connected to the AWD system?
