trans questions for DSM masters?

Please Help... 91 GSX Turbo that when I try to put it in reverse, most of the time i have to fight with it... Half the time the back up lights will come on but it will bogg out when I try to go... other times it will try to go forward... and sometimes it just does nothing! Its doesnt grind at the cluch in any gear, and the only hard shifting is when I am going into reverse and can feel the shifter working against itself??? ?? Im ripping my hair out, oh and btw sometimes it shifts perfectly normal.... All other gears are fine! If anyone could help i would surly apreciate it...

First id check to see nothing is blocking your Shifter cables. If not make sure your linkages arnt loose. My friend had the same problem with reverse and one of his linkages were loose he tightend it up and it was fine...

I had the same problem, and it was due to the shifter cable, but linkage is another possibility, and probably the culprit of your problems, but check both, and post results.

Thanks for the reply, I have checked it out but there doesnt seem to be anything loose or out of place... Any other suggestions?

NO luck thus far... Could it be that Im not seeing what Im supposed to? The cables are not loose but there not realy realy tight. Also Im not sure where to look for the shift mech on the trans... If anyone has any more ideas or insight im all ears... Thanks
