I have read through almost all of the toluene and xylene thread by using the search, and for the most I understand that it is safe to run especially with a 2:1 mixture of gas to the toluene/xylene with 10 oz of marvel mystery oil to achieve a higher level of octane. I just wanted to know who is still running this set up and did you encountered any problem so far with it and how do you like it? Also I have uploaded a couple of pics to see if this was the toluene or xylene that you're suppose to use, let me know if it is or not, thanks alot.......

No thats not the one to use. The ones to use says TOLUENE or XYLENE in the canister - not thinner or laquer or anything.

BE CAREFUL!!!! Im not just saying that only in terms of using it but also on buying Toluene. Anybody who buys it in bulk will alert law enforcement agencies since it is used to making METHs in the backyard.

Do your chemistry (adding gas and xylene) away from your car and ONLY use xylene. In this way nobody will be watching you or suspecting you of doing some illegal backyard chemistry.

I added Xylene to my gas in my WRX several times with no problems.
I just funnel'd it into my gas tank.

That shit aint cheap, though. $10/gallon at Home Depot.

ah thank god for clearing that up for me and to think I was about to pour paint thinner in my car......tsk tsk......lesson learn I suppose but any more feedback on the subject?

I think you end up spending just as much for the same final octane rating using race gas.
Xylene is 117 octane. I think it comes out to 95 or 96 with 2 gal. mixed into 13 gallons of 93.
So that's $20 for 96 octane.

If you put 4 gallons of 104 into 13 gallons of 93, you get the same 95-96, right? And that stuff costs around $5/gal.

On the other hand, I think Home Depot is getting suspicious.

It's been used by alot of racing clubs. They would buy a 55 gallon drum for 200 bucks and distribute the cost among friends. The cost of a gallon of 99.8 Octane (91 octane + toluene) comes to around $3.50++ compared to $5.00+/gal of race gas (100 octane). It is still good when you factor in the cost.

Another alternative is TORCO additive. it will bump 91 Octane to around 97 Octane. Twin-turbo and Blown Vette racers swear by this additive. I prolly will go this route on my DSM

Just as I said, be careful in buying toluene and stashing it at home - youre against fire and the DEA when you do.

My buddy and I are going to be experimenting with some home brewed high octane gas when we come home for thanksgiving. We are planning on getting some xylene and adding it in small increments until we reach the supposed optimum ratio of 30/70 xylene to gas ration. Will definitely post how it goes. I will be doing on my gsx and he is going to try it on his A6.

xyLOL is xylene, so that is the correct thing to use
