I wish I a picture to show what exactly I'm talking about....but a desctiption will have to do in the meantime. Also, since this is vaguely tech related, I put it here, even if it's not specific to cars.
Anyway....what I'm looking for is a toggle switch, or a button, much like you usually see in a movie, that's covered with a caution panel or whatever that either pops open or slides open, before you can do anything with the switch/button. Generally it's clear, with hazard/caution lines around it. I've seen plenty of the aircraft style covers for toggle switches, I'm looking for something a little more interesting than that. If anyone can point me in a direction, or knows a military surplus shop, or electronics store that has something like that, I'd love some help. Thanks guys.

They have them at advance auto and autozone, look around in their electronics/wiring stuff, they're usually mixed in there somewhere, they tend to run about $10 a piece... the colors they usually offer(or can get) are, flat red, flat blue, flat yellow, chrome red, blue, green, or yellow, and then they have fake carbon fiber.... if you go this route, get the flat color ones, the fake CF looks cheap, and the chrome look ones fade out..my nice metallic blue ones faded and look kinda aqua-ish now....

mine are regular red and have been that way for 2 years, no fading. they are "ignited" brand switches

I think mine are too, and that's why I basically stated "DON'T GET THE METALLIC/CHROME LOOK ones" the normal ones wont fade 'cause that's the colore of the plastic..but the other ones are painted..and MOST anodize/metal look paint fades if not done right....

Actually....those are the ones I was not looking for. Like I said, I can find the aircraft style ones easily on ebay, or as mentioned, at autozone, etc.
What I'm trying to find, is.....wish I could reference a specific movie...but as I said, it's generally covered in a clear plastic or glass....usually fires a missile or a shutdown, or something like that....sometimes someone has to insert a key, and that makes the glass/plastic part pop open. Still searching for an image to show you guys....but i included the aircraft style to show you what i'm not looking for.

If you want a switch that can't be accidentally operated, perhaps for a dual stage MBC, consider a keylock switch for a little extra safety. it's not going to look as fast nor as furious as a switch that you have to slam open the hatch to and then jam, but it works and it'll keep people from messing with it.

Found a reference, sort of. In the movie The Matrix, the first one, they have a clear panel over they switch that activates the emp. Not precisely what I was talking about, but closest thing I can find so far.
Not going for a fast n furious thing....just was getting bored with the common selection of switches available. Might end up using it for a total shutdown button for my computers, or something like that....Not sure yet. Mainly trying to figure out where I could get one, i'll find a use for it afterwards. :D

Found an example finally....just a google cache file.....probably will end up making my own. Will let you guys know how it turns out. Where to buy something like this, would still be useful info, if anyone can help.

Splattj, thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for. :D

Defiant, I don't suppose Dr. Strangelove has a mailing list, or a send-out catalog I could request?

dammit now youre gonna make me talk like him for the next week

ve haf our vays............

but those switches are a badass idea.

i currently use a safety toggle switch for my dual stage mbc, its on low when the switchguard and toggle are down, and i have to flick up the switchguard and flick the switch to go to High. i like it, i drive around with the switch "unarmed" and 11psi. then when i see a car i might have fun with, i "arm" the switch. if i get next to them at a light, im ready for a 11psi launch with little wheelspin in 1st on a fwd, then flick the switch and hit 20psi in 2nd after shifting. or if im next to someone on the freeway thats worthy ill arm it and get ready to flick the switch if they try anything.

its cool cause people always ask what it does. so ill show them "this is stock" theyre like "wow its pretty fast" then im like, "now watch, this is 20psi" and i flick it on and theyre like "holy ####ing shit!"
