OK, I probably know the answer....maybe someone has seen this before. After a recent rebuild including replacement of T-belt, tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and hydraulic tensioner, removal of balance shafts, ect. When running, the timing belt moves back and forth on the cam gears (about 1/10 inch). It has run very nice through break-in, but at 500 miles I'm getting nervous. I think I'll pull the cover and replace the timing belt this weekend. I'm not sure what could be causing the problem (since all pulleys have been replaced)....any ideas?

You have the wrong cam gears or wrong timing belt on your car. The ribs on them are different sizes, and if you mis-match them, the tbelt will blow apart.

Nah, I used the stock gears and the right belt...I'm sure of that. I think something may be misaligned or the litttle plate between the crank pulleys may be bent....not quite sure.

and mine have both done this. Everything stays on the gears, the belt is just smaller than the gears so I'm not seeing how this is not a dsm thing and considered "normal". It never moves more than 1/10 an inch, never has, nothing rubs, it just moves back and forth a tiny bit, so little that you have to really look at it to notice, and I'm using all stock parts also with the exception of replacement tensioners which when matched up next to my old ones are the exact same.

Sorry for bringing back a dead thread but unlike 90CherryTSI whos belt only moves 1/10 of an inch mine moves about 1/5 of an inch left and right and it gets REALLY hot(the belt) and it looks like theres some spots were its rubbing. I did an engine swap from a 91 GST to a 93 GSX and the cam gears and T-belt came off the 91 and it ran fine, no rubbing or movement. Any idea what could cause this movement?

Rubbing spots where? If they're on the flat side of the belt, you may have long bolts under the cam sprocket holding on the oil pan. It takes short ones there for this reason.
