After getting my 1g throttle body rebuild finished up last night, I noticed the pat doesnt seal perfect all the way..is this ok? If not I was wondering If I could take the plate off my other 1g throttle body and use that. Its not the same 1g throttle body though, Its the earlier style.I believe they are the same size, but the screws are facing another way on the plate. On the later 1g tbody I rebuilt, the heads are facing toward the elbow, on the earlier model, the heads are facing the manifold.Does this matter?

The plates will almost always have some gap around them. I haven't found a trend to which have smaller gaps than others. Occasionally swapping plates between throttle bodies prevents the plate from closing all the way, but sometimes it works and makes a smaller gap. Bottom line: it's normal, don't worry about it.

The screws should always be facing the elbow side.

Lol, I actually already read that.I got it back together and it still leaks.I think there may be a issue with the shaft it self.

I have read of some guys using the clear glue used in building model airplanes and such to coat the outer edge of the throttle plate to fill in some of the gap. There is even speculation that they came this way from the factory although I don't know that for certain. If you cleaned up the plate by sanding it down then this may be something to consider.

Tried to find the thread/posts where I read that but couldn't. Maybe you'll have better luck than me. Just something to consider.
