I bought a car from this guy and he was supposed to give me a list of mods and do some additional tuning because the car had idle surge and the A/F ratio's were off badly. I knew nothing of DSM's at the time and had to learn to tune a MAF-t myself because Thomas constantly told me that he was busy and didn't have the time to help me. Recently I have had some engine trouble to I called him and asked if he had any parts and he gave me a set of evo pistons/rings and rods and told me that I would be able to run them as is in my 6 bolt block. I found out that I could not because the crank journals on a 6 bolt are wider then a 7 bolt and you must use the 6 bolt rods. When I mentioned this to him he told me that he has built 12 or so engine like this and they run fine but if I wanted to make a big deal of it to just take the evo pistons and put them on my rods but I reminded him that the 1G piston wristpin is smaller then the wristpin on the 2G. He then told me that my rods had been milled out to fit 2G pistons because that is what was in my motor. So, I felt pretty good about everything. I then had an experience that brought to my attention that I had a serious problem with alcohol so I admitted myself to rehab treatment. I was gone for 28 days and I have been sober every sense. When I got back I called Thomas right away and tell him that I had his money for the pistons. I owed him like 50$ on them and he was a real asshole about it and told me not to worry about it. I reminded him that it was 50$ and I never had a problem paying him but I needed to take control of my problem before it got worse. I even told him that he could keep the 70$ I have already paid him and I would give him the pistons and rods back because I was gonna use stock pistons but he didn't want to do anything but be an asshole so I didn't offer to make anything else right. When I started my tear down and rebuild I found wood screws in the oil pan.. YES, WOOD SCREWS IN THE OIL PAN! One of the bell housing bolts was missing and he also told me the clutch was brand new. Below is a picture of the "brand new" clutch. I haven't even put 500 miles on this car and I had to change the turbo and FPR. He said the car was rebuilt 1200 miles prior to me buying it. Its looking more and more like he slapped this engine together just to sell this car. Also the 8.5:1 compression 2G pistons that were supposed to be in my car transformed themselves into 7.8:1 1G pistons so now I have to have then rods milled and retap the oil pan bolt holes.. I would not refer anyone to his shop and I would rather piss glass shards then ask for his help again.

This is the "brand new" clutch that was supposed to be in the car.

dude i was talkin to my buddy...and he brought my attention towards something....you werent given evo 8 pistons....you were most likely given 2g pistons on 1g rods.... because the 6 bolt rods are wider than a 7 bolt rod and wont even fit around the crank....and that sliding side to side...that shouldnt be happening at all!

    this is a 2g piston

    a evo 8 pistons should say 63te8

The ones I put in my car don't look anything like that.. I am gonna get a set of 1G pistons and just use them because even Jeff O at dsmchips says the compression change really isnt worth the hassle and all you end up doing is having to pull timing.. 7.8:1 is what I am gonna be going with.. The piston below is exactly what the ones I put in my motor look like.

    A post from TNDSM.com

Over the last 2 years I havent heard ONE good thing about Thomas when It came to anything more major than a timing belt replacement. Unless ofcourse it was one of his buddies that did it. You went above and beyond with trying to be fair to that POS. That dude cost me a $4000 engine over a 75 dollar part that he "Modified" When I called him about it he pretty much told me I cold go #### myself. I have no respect for the man and will tell anyone and everyone what a #### tard he is. Ohh the 75 dollar part. I had a main bearing det for a early 7bolt and needed the thrust washer style bearing since my new block was out of a 98. Rather than call me and tell me this he just cut the thrust surface off of the bearing and slapped it in. Told me he had done several that way and never had a problem so I could do whatever I felt I needed to do but he wasnt gonna fix anything.

^^^^^ that is my situation. Thomas is a worthless pos. I trusted him to do work for me based off of his reputation from years ago. Apparently back in the day he used to take his time and do a quality job. Now I wouldn't send my worse enemy to this dousch bag. EVERY ONE says the same thing about him. He is quick to screw anyone over he can but then acts like a little bi*** when people don't bend over backwards for him. Screw him and his shop. Ill tell everyone who will listen what a leach on society he is. This guy works on average family cars too. I can't imagine what he is doing to some unsuspecting young mom or dads car. Scary.@

Shacklett auto down in nashville was quoted on one of these threads to be knowledgable on machine work for our cars. I will be checking them out in the next couple months to do some work.

Want to take my car down there but I'm in Clarksville and its only running on two cylinders. I do believe this would be a bad idea to drive down there and I have no means to trailer it down there

I'm runnin 9:1 forged pistons and rods in my 6 bolt, as well as up to 19degrees of timing with a little knock. I'll never go back to low compression pistons.

I trailered my car from Chicago and Thomas built my car and built my 1st trans. Actually there are 6 dsm/evo's in my area that he built.

He built my old gsx. Thomas knows what he is doing, what most people dont understand is Thomas works from word of mouth without advertising. He will get to your stuff, just give him time. Hes working like a dog and I gaurantee he has been and will be backed up everytime you goto see him. Guy takes on more work then he can handle. Doesnt make him bad though.

Thomas may know what is doing. In my opinion that only makes the majority of his products even worse. If he knows what he is doing and still puts GARBAGE PRODUCTS out of his garage 4 of 5 times. Then your talking about a leech on the community instead of an inept idiot. Either way, unless your a personal friend of his I HIGHLY doubt you will get a good product from him. If you manage to get quality from him then you are luckier than most.

Where is a good spot to get help with DSMs? I have had mine for a just over a year but have only been with the car for about 2 months and I am starting to notice some issues. I don't have any idea on how to fix DSM, but it is something that I want to learn. I don't learn to well by just reading and I am not about to tear my car apart and be in a worse situtation then what I started. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.
