for a while I have heard a slight knocking/clicking in my engine, and really didnt think much, just thought it was a bad rocker or something. Well a few days ago it got about 2 times worse. I didnt drive it for a couple days because it sounded pretty bad. yesterday I decided to drive it to school to see how it was running then I was going to let the auto shop teacher look at it. I couldnt find the autoshop teacher after school and I had to get home for a dentist appointment so I left with two of my friends. When I started my car the knocking was TERRIBLE, worse its ever been. I tried to make it home but only made it about half a mile before it started becoming sluggish, then my engine went "boom" and a huge smoke cloud was behind me. :cry: I threw a rod through the side of my engine block leaving a 2-3 inch hole in the side. It makes me sick just thinking about it. :barf: I am going to keep my car but now I have to find a new motor to put in it. I have yet to find any 420a motors anywhere around here, so is it possible to put a 4G63 in my 95 eclipse? I have plenty of time now. . .
 
I did some research and it seems like a pain in the ass to do put in a 4G63. I really got ripped off on this car, I only had it a month and it throws a rod in it. I would take it back to get my money back but I got it from my sister for cheap so I guess Im just going to have to wait to find a 420A in my area.
 
so is ur head ok? if so then look for a neon, sebring, talon, or eclipse block and use ur head. it will bolt up. i have done this. there are no mods if u do this. if u have to use the head on the neon or sebring u will have to get new exhaust. the heads are backwards but they will work. good luck and if u need help just let me know. pm me i will be more than happy to help u with any problems. later

we almost have a '94 non turbo to turbo swap done it runs right now but we are trying to get the cyclone intake manifold to work correctly because people say both of these things are hard to do. well they are but they can be done and are almost ready to drive it around. but for your car your would different motor mounts to even start the conversion but we will be advertising the 1g swap at the shop we will be opening in hagerstown MD soon

Did you check the oil when you heard the ticking/clicking noise? I'm thinking something suffered from oil starvation.
 
yeah I checked it every other day to make sure it was still at the correct level. I got the car from my sister and she cracked the oil pan and she didnt replace it for a couple of months, so thats where I think the oil starvation came into effect. If I would have known in advance about her doing this I would have rebuilt it.
