Some random pics showing the teardown period and labeling extent I tried to dummy proof for myself.
I am chaos. I am the substance from which your artists and scientists build rhythms. I am the spirit with which your children and clowns laugh in happy anarchy. I am chaos. I am alive, and I tell you that you are free.[12]
So it’s changed a little bit over the years of research so I’m kind of glad I wasn’t able to start spending money on stuff until I did a lot of reading. Although 22 years is a little excessive but hey we’re here now. Basically just want a nasty street car at this point. I need to drive her again before I get much older. Probably won’t drive it much is the reality so def no DD. Weekend cruises maybe the occasional weekend warrior. Will have 93 in it the majority of the time but will go flex fuel in case she ever wants to drink e85 to show off/dyno/etc. I live in Florida so AC is a must if I want to drive it 9 months out of the year. Planning on trying the new FP ZERO BB turbo with the new Morrison Fab stock replacement headers (tested a little better than the FP mani. and looks awesome). No specific demands on HP but anywhere above 500 would make me really happy. On the fence on the ECU stuff at the moment but that’s a ways off so I have time to do more investigation. Always wanted the ecmlink v3, but seems like more people are moving to Link and Haltech now. I’ve done a fair amount of mechanic work on others cars (never any major motor/tranny/ecu stuff) but nothing to this extent so it’s definitely a learning curve.Nice, National Lampoons quotes. Should be a good build. You've already got some nice stuff. Sorry if I missed it but what's the goal/plan for the car?
Should be. Surely. . Just trying to figure out the best points to connect the chains to at this point. Not finding any great videos detailing this and everything removed mostly except the block and head at this point. Any suggestions? Keep debating myself. I know I want to be on the block somewhere with substantial sized bolts, but how do I do this without the chains pressing/rubbing on the head/valve cover? I do have a load leveler I bought too.Wow you’ve got it broken down a good ways! Pulling the motor should be a cake walk
Kinda what I was thinking. If you hooked to those weren't you exerting the load on the head then? I was under the impression that was a no no to attach to the aluminum head and make sure whatever I lift from was a large bolt attached to the cast iron block...I hooked one side of the load leveler to one of the studs in the front part of the side engine mount, above where the ps pump would be.
The other side is tricky now bc I hooked the intake or throttle body, which you have removed. I wonder about one of the bolt holes where the tranny mount is, but you may need to extend the chain some.
True. I get that. I'm just super paranoid at this point. It took me 22 years to get to this point finally with mine and I know how rare what I have is, so I'm trying to not take any chances. Not sure what I'd do if I messed it up.The bottom of that driver side mount bracket is bolted to the block, if that makes you feel better about it.
As long as you have a sturdy mounting point with a rather large bolt, it’ll be fine. Imagine the millions of junk yard engines that get removed every year by tying an old seat belt around the exhaust and intake manifolds.
Ya I thought about that too..As far down as you’ve taken it, maybe you could just drop it out the bottom?
