St. Paul,
ok from what I read (I know nothing on cars but I want to learn) they replace a catalyic converter, which controls carbon monoxide release and is pretty much an eviromental thing

anywho, why would I do this to my enivoroment, like what will a test pipe do for me and is there ne reason I should use a test pipe over a high flow catalyic converter?

thanks for any help

Test pipe is insanely cheap. Tre HFCats are pricey. The $30 deals you see on eBay are not actually doing anything. If you are concerned about the environment, then you will want a true high flow cat. However, on a mostly stock car, it won't do that much for you. Leave the stock cat and replace your header and get a cat-back exhaust if you must. Of course, some of us could care less and have a Cherry Bomb where the cat used to be.

Maybe it's just because I put my header on when I put the test pipe on, but for me it made a huge difference.

The only downside is that my car is insanely loud now. I really gotta watch it in the city around cops.

And as far as the environment goes, well people have abused the environment and damaged it almost irrepairably before I got here, and now it's all on my shoulders to take care and play it safe with what I put on my car? With all the other creative ways that the government is coming up with day after day to destroy the environment, I don't think my test pipe will make that much difference in the long run. Hey, what's good enough for Uncle Sam is good enough for me.

I'm too irresponsible to take all that responsibility on.

Naw, I'm fine with my test pipe.

Josh, what about you? I know you've got something to contribute...

and we all know that uncle sam doesn't like you taking his epa pollution points, so pop that HFC back on there!!! ;) cars don't put out THAT much emissions, i don't think...

hey what's up guys!

yeah with the test pipe man you can get some insane power! well let's not say insane power meaning turbo wise, but you can feel that extra power the test pipe gives you and if you are tryin to get every lil bit of acceleration outta your car, you gotta think "screw the environment!" haha.

all i had on my car when i installed my custom test pipe was cai, wires, and plugs. i had a 4.5" muffler from megan racing put on my car when i had my test pipe installed. but mine is so loud! when i goto my buddy chris or john's house they can hear me about 2.5 miles down the backroad...and their like yup josh is comin! but, i got my test pipe from my neighbor who has a gst! he didn't want his car so loud so he sold it to me for ten bucks, so i figured i'd hit it up! to give ya like a feeling of what kinda power it'll put out, it's kinda like an upgrade on exhaust piping!

well i'm done typing, i feel like i'm typin the same thing over and over again! haha....keep us posted on what ya decide to do man! o yeah the only reason i got a test pipe, is cause i live in the sticks and out here they don't have emission control or checks! cause our county don't give a crap about emissions! haha....good luck

hey matt...when did ya get that header man? i noticed ya had some new parts in your profile? did ya get the udp installed yet? i got mine on and drove for a couple hours before my engine blew, haha. but i could feel it relieving some tension in the crank. it was like the car was lighter or something...haha. when i get my car back, i'm gonna try and hit up a header, and get my custom piping on at carx since i know the guy...he'll do it for 40 bucks! but keep me posted man...peace

god bless uncle same.

most people decide whether they will get a test pipe or a high flow cat by if there state has emissions laws. or if they do they will just pop a cat on for testing.

Todays cars are run very efficiently. I have had several cars go through Md emisions testing, and pass, with no cat on the car. Its the 1986 Mercedes Diesels that don't even have to go through emisions that make me wonder.
