totally random thought but there is a diesel 4g63 that was used in forklifts. allegedly it is the same narrow 4g63 as the car engine, but fueling, and the head, pistons and everything is of course all different. figuring out the differences could make it possible to build up a automotive 4g63 in diesel trim and run it in a car body, with AWD. i have never seen a complete diesel 4g63 in use, i have seen what appeared to be 4g63 diesel pistons, the looked... well like diesel pistons that would fit in a 4g63 block. and if it really is available in diesel capable trim, that would explain why the block is so overbuilt for a tiny sports car.
