tach inop after installing cop setup...
is this normal...
if so what is the fix...
thanks...keith

Why not type out a proper paragraph stating your problem and what you have done to possibly cause it and you might get some help.

Allow me to translate :thumb:

"tach inop after installing cop setup..."
The tachometer has become inoperable after a Coil on Plug setup was installed.

"is this normal..."
Is this a normal side effect of the Coil on Plug setup?

"if so what is the fix..."
If this is a normal side effect of the Coil on Plug setup, is there a way to correct it?

"thanks...keith"
Thank you.

Check your gauges fuse. If it's blown, replace it. If it's not, try swapping out your cluster for one you know is in good working condition. Something similar happened to me this past winter for no reason at all.

My tach didnt' work when I bought my car... it was simply a matter of reaching down into the engine bay and screwing the tach sensor back in the transmission. I don't know why this would be disconnected for a CoP install, but who knows.

let you know...
thanks again...

What tach sender in the trans? I've never seen one in the FSM.
THE FSM shows the tach signal coming from either the sender on the coils on a '90 or from the Power Transistor Module on '91+

Good call man...
I must have been thinking of the speedo cable. Sorry about the confusion. So... if your speedometer ever stops working... you know where to look! :notgood:

First off start typeing in normal sentences or this is going to get locked.

Did you install an ignition system like an MSD DIS-2? DId you do the white wire mod to get your tach working again? If your not sure what that is do a search on msd white wire mod and it will show you wiring up the white wire from your power transistor to your tach to make everything work.

sorry for the short list....
i bought the car with a blown engine...
installed a afc, coil on plug set up,tmo chip.....
just checking to see if the tach not working was because of the coil set-up...
if this is normal---is there a fix for this.....

also could not find a thread on the white wire mod....
alll were talking about a 2g and msd boxs....

sorry for problems this might have cause any one.....

thanks for the space and time.....

keith

you remove the coil and translater totally...
just taps in 4 wire in the translater harness....

thanks Keith

my tach stop working after motor rebuild and all i did was tap into the tach wire at the ecu and all is good, well it works weather its accurate i don't know.
