I will have a fully built 2.4L 4g64/63 hybrid engine hopefully done within 6 months. So I am just trying to decide what turbo will best fit this engine?
I will be running with DSMlink, and had planned on 660 injectors, should I get the 720's for the 2.4L?
If I go with a "full garret" setup I would get the RNR t3/t4 kit. I am looking to be fast on pump gas, to be quite honest, I dont give a sh*t what the car runs on racegas, since that is not on the streets.:thumb:
I had planned on a 50 trim .63 AR, should I go 60-1 for the 2.4L?
I would like to have full spool of say 18-20psi by 3k rpms, anyone think thats possible?
Any input is appreciated

My original setup was supposed to be a magnus 2.4, 272/272 cams and a full Garrett L3r with .82 hot side. depends what you are looking for really are you trying to compete with the internet pump gas dyno war if so thats silly, pic your mods around your realistc goals.

Your car is all done and on the road? When do you see full boost?

I am also going to run 272/272 HKS cams, as far as pump gas dyno wars, no I dont want nothing to do with that. But I just want my car to have the most potential on the street on pump. Everyone swears up and down that the 50 trim .63 AR is the "pump gas king", but is that too small for the 2.4L? I would like the fact that I could probly spool that 50 trim like it was a T2small.

I still am not 100% tuned but I was seeing 25lbs of boost by about 4200. On my 60-1 with a stage 3 wheel .82 ar eh. The car feels pretty scary. The car wasn’t at all slow before (117 traps on 94 octane) but honestly the way the car was feeling last night made my old setup feel lame and this was on a map that was tuned for 25lbs on c16 not 20lbs on 94 octane With time I bet it will spool even faster.

I forgot to mention that I will probly end up running a stock 1g head with the 272 cams for now. Stock valvetrain and everything. So I wont be running any crazy RPM's, probly set my rev limiter to 7500. So I would be looking for a turbo that can fully spool by ~3k rpms and can put out full power all the way to 7500 rpms.

Understandable, rdrkt is probably best qualified to help you with this since he is actually running this setup. Try the 50 first with maybe a little larger hot side since you have the added displacement. also give Marco a call he is quite knowledgeable in the stroker department.

LOL:laugh:

I too suggest the full Garrett 60-1, i should be building my stroker sometime this summer and i plan on the 60-1 when i get a turbo.

Edit:

rdrkt, your running a Garrett 60-1 yet using a stock manifold...exactly what set-up are u running?

My '64 is coming together as we speak. Full T4. T61 P-trim in a .58AR divided turbine housing.

Full boost by 3k you say? Try a 60-1 stage in a .63AR T31 housing. That should get you close with the '64

where are u getting your headers/manifold from?

A 60-1 would be the smallest turbo I would put on a 2.4L. Otherwise, why did you get a 2.4L?

We just did an extra special T3/T4 kit for a 2.4L. Spool up is about the same as a 2.0L w/ 60-1 but this turbo is quite a bit larger.
P/Q trim turbine wheels are your friend:) Give us a call if you want something special.

Manifold will be an SFP unit unless an HKS manifold falls from the sky which I highly doubt. :D

Alright, I have decided to go wtih this turbo, since it will bolt up to my ported 2g manifold and my RNR 3" o2 elim downpipe.
You guys talked me into a 60-1:)
So after the car is fully tuned, this turbo probly wont fully spool until 3800-4k rpms? I guess I can deal with that, cuz it will make a hell of alot of power when it does spool.

At least when I was saying go 60-1 I was saying go Garrett. I dont know how well a 60-1 with 7cm housing would work on a 64. If you want a bolt on turbo at least go with an 8cm

Alright, well how about the AGP L3R fully ported with a 8cm turbine housing?

I just cant make up my mind of how big I want to go. I dont really want to be breaking driveline parts all the time, so Im honestly thinking of sticking with a 50trim internally gated. I originally got into the 2.4L because my motor doesnt have the greastest compression and why build a 2.0 when you can build a 2.4 for abotu the same cost? More torque and faster spool up for free.

a mitsu TH might not be a good idea with a 10 blade gt30 wheel get the 4 bolt garrett or the pte, but the l3r sounds nasty:cool:

Do the full garret kit, you won't be sorry. I would call Kevin as he knows stroker stuff and has built turbo kits for stroker motors. Like he said, they can set you up with something special.

8cm would be a minimum on a 2.4L. Honestly, you have to be nuts not to go with a full Garrett kit. By the time you get a hybrid and external and all the other stuff you need, you will spend more than the full Garrett kit. And you'll be stuck with the limited line of hybrid parts. Go Garrett and the options and flexibility are endless.
