Switching my stock stereo system need some help

Well i have a completely stock sound system in my 95 GST, the speakers are blown and i have no CD changer, i want to change the whole thing, head unit,speakers and i need some help with what troubles will i encounter?

Where do i get the part that sits below a regular head unit for the car so it takes up the space below left from the bigger head unit?

What size speakers do i need? Front and back.

If i use a 45 X 4 watts head unit i won't need a separate amp right?

If you order a HU from Crutchfield.com they will include the mounting bracket and wiring harness for your car, as well as step by step instructions. Also, the website will show you exactly what speakers you can fit and they will include a mounting bracket (if required) and wiring harness if you purchase speakers from them. Just a thought if you're a first timer and looking to do this yourself. Crutchfield makes it very simple for the beginner.

I would look into Pioneer, Kenwood, and Alpine HU's. They are among the best in sound processing.

The 45x4 shown on most HU's is the MAX output which is basically worthless. You need to look at RMS because that is the cosntant output the amp puts out. Most cd players put around 18-23watts of constant power to each channel. Which is enough to power most speakers...but usually not as good as the speakers are intended.

As far as speakers go...Infinity makes some pretty reasonable entry level speakers. It's a good idea to get an amp that puts out the recommended RMS wattage rating on the speakers, to be sure they are playing at their full potential.
