St. Louis, Missouri
Started by driving from St. Louis MO to Oklahoma City OK. Top down 75 mph and 25 mpg. Stopped @ a motorcycle museum in Miami OK and ended our day @ The Winchester Drive In in OKC.

Yesterday we drove from OKC to Amarillo TX stopping along the way to do some souvenir shopping. Afterward we stopped at The Big Texan for dinner. No, we didn't try to devour the HUGE 72oz steak in one hour...and sadly, no one else was making an attemp while we were there (this time!). Then we headed on over to the Cadillac Ranch and defiled a half buried classic Cadi with a lil red spray paint. Later we finished our day by driving to Canon City CO where we hut the hay early in anticipation of a morning of Zip Lining and Whitewater Rafting.

Looks like fun! Thanks for the pictures. We would love to take a road trip in the mountains in our Spyder. We've taken day trips, but my wife is scared that the Spyder's seats would be too uncomfortable after multiple long days. Maybe I'll have to install some Recarros...

Hi DogWhistle. Yup...the stock leather seats aren't the most comfortable...but they are pretty durable. I'm going to try to put in some seats out of a Mini soon. But anyway, back to the roadtrip...

After a couple days in Canon City Colorado (and some absolutely EPIC Ziplining and Whitewater Rafting with the Royal Gorge Rafting!) we left the Parkview Inn Motel and drove through the Rockies to the Four Corners and Monument Valley (right at Sunset!).

...Then we drove to Page Arizona (where all the hotels / motels are kinda pricey) and stayed a night. Woke up the next morning and attempted to check out Antelope Canyon only to find that the access is controlled by the local tribe and costs FOURTY EIGHT bucks per each adult. No Thanks. We drove on down toward Tuba City and checked out an AMAZING dinosaur track site. It's so cool to see something so ancient with your own eyes. After the dinosaur tracks we spent the remains of the day driving to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon crossing the Colorado on the Navajo bridge. The North Rim and Grand Canyon Lodge was fantastic.

...And now we're in Escalante Utah staying in an Airstream travel trailer. We hiked for a couple miles to find this fantastic waterfall, had a great dinner (St. Louis style smoked ribs!) at Circle D and watched Some Like It Hot on the outdoor "drive in" screen here at the Shooting Star RV Resort after dark.

Just down the road (scenic route 12) from the RV park is the Bryce Canyon National Park. We spent a good part of a day exploring it then stuck around near the entrance for a fun little Rodeo!

Yesterday we drove to and through Las Vegas but didn't take any pics. We stayed the night in a swanky suite at the Nugget in Parumph AZ. Sadly it wasn't a non-smoking room (neither was the casino - phew!) but otherwise was freaking great for a 100 bucks! We left Parumph this morning and drove through the115 degree heat until my radiator cap gave up the ghost in the middle of nowhere. We limped into a small town that luckily had a NAPA Parts Store...but they didn't have a replacement cap. So I improvised. I bought a cap with a larger gasket, tore it apart, cut down the larger gasket and fit it to my original cap. Viola! Cap fixed...at least enough so until I can find a proper replacement.

Alright, so a LOT has happened since last I checked in. As a matter of fact, I'm already home from this trip...but I just didn't have time to post from the road, so I'll start catching up now.

Well, before the Radiator Cap issue we drove from the Star Light RV park near Escalante UT to Zion National Park. I stuck the camera out the top of the Spyder and shot some video of the drive. Wanna take a look? Check it out!

...And to go back a little farther even, when we went whitewater rafting in Colorado (Canon City) a fellow paddler, who just happened to sit across from me at the front of the raft, had a GoPro strapped to his head! So here we are on the Arkansas River gettin' wet. I go heels over head at about 4:38 and end up swimming in the rapids for about 15 (LONG) seconds! Remember, this is not my video.

Nice canyon video. Thanks for sharing. That was a good idea to post it in slow motion -- LOL!

Ha! Yeah, I'm not much of a speeder, though I do like to take the corners hard. I feel like anybody can drive a car 100 miles an hour in a straight line. Takes a little more guts to double the recommended speed in the corners!

My poor camera batteries kept dying so I failed to get the windiest part of the road into Zion National Park, but here's some good footage of the road before the long tunnel.

And some photos of Zion.

From Zion National Park we drove to St. George were we checked out a bunch of Dinosaur tracks both way out in the desert (where we discovered a dollar bill...no really!) and in a really cool museum (St George Dinosaur Discovery Museum). Then we jumped back in the Spyder and tooled toward and through Las Vegas and on to Parumph AZ...where all the trouble started.

I'll have a video of the drive through Tioga Pass up soon, but here's a couple of quick pics of Yosemite National Park. Quite a beautiful place. I hope to make it back some time when I can spend more time there!
