Strut Install Help!

How much does it usually run for rear strut install? I bought a set of kyb's that i'm planning to use to replace my stock shocks but I wanna bring it to a mechanic since I don't have the tools. A local mechanic is charging 90 for labor on both. Too much?

$90 isn't too bad but why don't you spend the money on tools and do it yourself?

First off, you dont have struts in the rear. A MacPherson strut is what you have up front. You have shocks in the rear.

Secondly, tool-wise all you ever need on a DSM is a 10, 12, 14 and 17mm socket. You'll need them in the future anyway, so you might as well get them. You'll also need a spring compressor. These arent actually that expensive, i picked up mine for $40. Make sure you get one that bolts around the spring, not one that just has little fangs that hold it down. in fact, for the install of the rears, you only need a 12, 14 and 17, a breaker bar and a drive extension. Oh and a normal ratchet.

Is that 90/hr? or 90 flat. 90 flat is pretty good, 90/hr is obscene.

PM me if you want a write-up on how to do the rear install, i'd be more than happy to do it, and you'll be much more excited when you're done after doing it yourself than after getting it back from a mechanic

To add to it. You can RENT a spring compressor from Advanced or autozone.
