now i have a 1g tb i just installed and every morning when i turn it on it will idle like at 2100 rpm and then slowly come down as it warms up, is that normal? when ever i drive into the city my car will idle hight sometimes like it doesnt know what to do with the IAC sensor. and sometimes it will surge, and other times idle below the 900 i have it set to. as if it ran hotter in city and it affects it somehow.

ive replaced all vacuum hoses, new EGR gasket, new IAC, and the 1g tb was rebuild by throtlebodies.com which does great work.

another thing i notice is the egr system is not complete on my smog list.

idk what else to think of since it only does it when i run the 1g tb and not as much with the stock one.

any advice would be helpful.

not sure about eclipses but 3000gts do the same thing until the ecu sees certain conditions.. ie coolant temps at a certain level. at the same time it does this it is also adding extra fuel to protect the engine. its why if you jump in and romp on the car it drives like crap. its usually only noticeable during the winter as the summer heat keeps it above the minimum the ecu likes to see.

its part of the fast idle air valve or fiav that has been mentioned.

the way it works is it runs coolent thru the throttle body and in the throttle body there is a bead that as it warms up it seals the coolant flow and stops the fiav from working and you idle drops to normal

does it still have the fiav?
yes i havent taken anything out as far as emissions go only thing ive removed was cruise control and relocated battery.

Did you properly adjust your BISS?
ive messed with it so it will keep me close to the rpm i want to but it still acts up in the city.

well i always let it warm up when i first turn it on in the mornings and i dont get on it when i take of makes since that the FIAV would affect it when cold then but why only with the 1g tb is it cause of the extra volume of air that makes it in?

im going to put my old IAC back in since the coils checked out fine and there has been no change with the new one in place.

if eliminate the lower part of the tb could that help out my situation. and is that where the fiav is located?

did you put on the 2g tps? as the 1g tps doesnt have the idle switch in the tps as the 2g does. if you look at the tps it should have 4 pins in the sensor. if not it is a 1g tps and this is your problem. if you have dsmlink you can go into the rpm tab and select simulate idlesw.

wow i have been wondering about that for the longest time to about where the idle switch is in the 2g LOL... but yes i am using the 2g tps and i also have the simulator enabled on my link.
