I have finally decided to do something better with my transmission. I called up Jon at T.R.E to talk options. Immediately he told me that I called at the right time because he had be in the process of working with PAR Engineering on a customized gear box that's synchronized and have the same strength as a set of dog box gears. He told me that He and Par Engineering had reengineered some things to make the gearbox almost perfect. So I agreed to gather all of what he needed for the build and finally we have a completed unit that will be put to the test here shortly. As recommended by T.R.E I switched back from the 3.909 final drive to the stock dsm 3.545 final drive which we feel is better especially for 1/2 mile racing. Of course Jon , after getting the gear set from par did all the usual to the gears that's standard on any of his transmission builds.
Shot peen , Gear details, double sychros, and all the other secrets. The only thing I wish I had done is some type of billet shift fork but with the 3.545 rear end I have no plans of slamming the gears and shifting above 9000 rpm. I am very excited about the new unit and really thank T.R.E for undertaking the build for me. On a side note before hiring Jon I was a little concerned about being able to communicate with him because he no longer accept phone calls but I must say that concern went away almost immediately because after getting my transmission Jon kept me up to speed by texting me pictures throughout the build process this eliminated any need for me to call and get a status on how its going. I must say I am very pleased. the only thing I have to get now is , since the gear set uses the bigger Evo input shaft, my current clutch disc needs to be replaced, not the whole clutch but the disc with the bigger splined center.
gear ratios are as follows. Nice even spead!
