I'm going to use flanges from stock and weld up a test pipe, just need to know length.

16" outside to outside on the nose. Verify with someone else to make sure, I just measure one sitting on my workbench.

16" is correct for a 1g not sure for a 2g

my dad suggested just gutting the cat, Got all bolts off but one, then busted up my knuckles and stripped the last one, i'll save this for another time. With stock exhaust, what should I expect by changing to test pipe? Nothing...?

Gutted cat equals MORE backpressure than a test pipe, although less than a stock cat. The stock catback exhaust system makes 3 times the backpressure the stock cat does. I seen an ad for a full 3" polished STAINLESS mandrel bent catback with dual muffler tips for $295 new. I'm so tempted I might buy it myself. Ebay downpipes are going for $95 now.
