On my 1g transmission swap the starter plate was different, you need the one from the manual transmission.

I got the auto starter in the m/t today no problem....I just hope the bolt holes are in the same position. If not, I will try to dremel the plate with the trans in the car.

Ok i got the starter in......I used a M/t starter with the auto plate and it works fine bolted up fine and starts fine...I also got the auto starter in the m/t no problem as well, but didnt use it.

The auto starter will bolt in just fine. But it won't actually...start the car. It won't reach far enough to spin the flywheel teeth.

You can use the auto starter plate, but it will require some drilling and cutting. All of that seems a little to ghetto for something that is only $20 anyways:|
