So, I went from a stock converter, and a built 2.0, to a restall and 2.3. With the 2.0 setup, I could sit on the converter forever, and not get past 2500 rpms. The new setup does this.

A local company called roadrunner converters. I called Hughes, because they are local also. Hughes wanted $600+ to restall my stock converter. Roadrunner did a restall, and welded in nitrous plates for $185. I won't be needing nitrous though.

my restall on a high mile 2.0L and EF1 got me over 4k, so did the same motor with a 3076

so a 2.3 and a restall gets you to 3800rpm?

I let off at 3800, I was driving through the brakes into my garage. I actually launch the car at around 3400 rpms, any higher and I spin to much. I can get plenty over 4,000, and have my waste gate screaming open, but it's not needed. With the 2 step at 3600 I build almost 25 psi, and just blow the tires off.

The fact that I can get on the converter, and launch the car in under 3 seconds is exactly what I was looking for.

A 2.0 needs to be over 4k. I've got full boost on a billet 76mm wheel around 4000. About 5-600 rpms sooner than the same turbo on my 2.0.

There are guys running large turbos launching with single digit boost numbers, cutting 1.4 60's.

full boost is how much in that situation?

28 psi. I don't want to push the journal bearing red much more than that. Although, feeding it from the filter housing with an unrestricted -4an line, and running vr1 20-w50 seems to be keeping it happy.

This 2.3 is flowing about 15% more air at the same boost levels as the 2.0 I had before it. Everything else is identical.

Just wanted to post this. Roadrunner is quite possibly the best company I have ever dealt with. About a week after I installed the converter I had a bolt issue, a converter bolt backed out almost ripped off my oil pan, and trashed the mounting pad. They replaced the converter for free. Fast forward to now. Somehow, my trans case split at the center diff area. I called them and asked how much to open the converter up, and clean it. It's free! I have yet in all my years of modding cars dealt with a business that is willing to bend over backwards for the customer as much as roadrunner.

That is killer stall! And that is awesome that they have such great customer service, I wish shops around her were like that.

Didn't realize it was you I had talked with on the phone the other day about the 91 roller. I called them and they were very friendly but decided to go with Bradco, Have this stock converter sitting here if they can do a balloon plate for nitrous I may just send it off to them, Bradco is getting more difficult to get a hold of, but no big deal as of yet, at least not until I HAVE to have a converter in the car.

I ended up picking this up locally for a steal. Runs drives, and the body panels are really straight. Needs some paint work in a couple spots, but rust free, and no big dents.

It's a manual with a built engine. I'm just throwing in a clutch, turbo, and fuel system for now. I have another awd Mitsubishi chassis coming to me this week that will need a full frame up build.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it for the convertor sent in and shipped round trip? I really like what it did for you and their customer service seems spot on.
