Srt4 Dsm Or Not????

Unfortunatly, I have a friend who owns an SRT4.... yes I know. Well, apperently he thinks an SRT4 is a DSM. So he's actually had other SRT4 owners confront me and tell me that an SRT4 is considered a DSM also. All in all, I think Neons are ugly and don't get me wrong bang for buck a great value for a new car, but I'm the type of guy who would buy a 1g or 95 2g and put the money into that rather than driving around in a Neon. I mean 21,000+ and it has no power windows in the rear?! BLAAG!
So everyone is a SRT4 a DSM or not? just trying to end this nonscense!

Diamond Star Motors was dissolved in 1994, after the 2G was designed but before any were made. Having "DSM" stickers and VIN plates after that point was probably a matter of what had already been made and was on hand.

Yes, the Normal plant built other vehicles. In our world, DSMs are Lasers, Talons and Eclipses until the 3G fell out of the end of the production line.

No, the SRT-4 nor the Neon are in any way DSMs. That some choose to classify them as such is testament to the kind of reputation the T/E/L has in the car world.

Galant vr4's are not DSM. They are pure mitsubishi. However, due to their similarity to the awd dsm's, they are often grouped with them.

3S's are not DSM. Those are 100% Made in Japan Mitsubishi automobiles.

If you really want to be technical, the only things that are DSM's are 89-95 TEL's, Sebrings, and Avengers. Anything out of that factory after early MY95 is Mitsubishi Motors...but the later 2G's are kept grouped within the DSM term, since they're mechanically identical to the early 95's.

Actually, the official name change from DSM to MMMA was in July 1995. Early MY95 cars are actually DSM

However, Mitsu had already owned all of DSM for 4 years at that point.

just kidding! I will beat you though. For the price 20,000 is a very attractice price for a "performance vehicle" I know that the srt doesn't say neon any where on it, but if it walks like a duck, smells like a duck then... it must be a neon!

The only people who are worried about warranty are people who can not afford to play in the modified car game. If you need warranty to bail you out cause you broke parts you can not afford to fix or replace then your playing over your head.

If you can't afford to fix it then don't modify it, it's that simple. Your obviously worried about blowing up your engine or trans because you can't afford to fix it. Do you seriouly think that even if you have the Mopar upgrade parts with warranty on an SRT-4 and you blow up the trans they are gonna fix it no questions asked? You don't know the dealership very well then... They will deny warranty as soon as the car rolls in. Even if they don't and say you do get it, trust me you won't get it a second time.

When I bought my car it had full Chrysler warranty. I just went right to modifying the car and forgot all about the warranty. I broke stuff, bought new parts and installed them, simple. If your relying on warranty to bail you out, find another hobby thats cheaper, say model cars?

As for SRT-4 a DSM or not? Unless it was produced in the plant in Normal Il. bettween 89-99 then no it's not a DSM. There are a few exceptions like the Galant and 3000GT because they share platform parts, other then that, NOPE!

A SRT-4 is a Neon just like a GTi is a GOLF. It's the same shit with a few different parts. Ask any normal person what kind of car it is. Oh thats a Neon or a Golf. Simple as that.

It all boils down to this, DSMs have awd, that raises the potential of our cars greatly. Sorry guys with the gs-ts, I think the potential in the DSM primarily surpasses the srt-4 due to the awd. Other than that we only have them with 15 years of knowledge, an abundance of parts and the cheaper starting platform.

Theres a couple blue one up in the Chi Area.... always wanting to race... and I'm just like does it ever end?!!! I just love ripping on these things... mainly cause my friend bought one, and like everyone said, he's so in over his head on 450 a month car payments he can't mod cause he'll have no money to fix it once he blows up the warrenty.
