I found the spade connection along with the pastic piece completely off the oil housing and its hanging under the car. Will that do hinder anything?

Is the oil pressure switch broken? It must be or I doubt you would post about it instead of just reconnecting it.

The oil warning light is the last gasp indicator of impending doom. It comes on when oil pressure drops below 4.4 psi. The oil presure sender and gauge is independant but it will only tell you the pressure is low not dangerously low.

If it was my car I'd replace the switch if the male connector broke off.

hmmm i can't just reconnect it? i had no idea where that male metal and plastic female piece led to then my oil light started flickering on three days ago but yesterday while I was driving (hard),the oil light didn't flicker or come on. I did a search on oil light and found out it was just a connector. how can i tell if my oil switch is broken besides the male spade connector
thanks for the quick reply

The oil pressure switch grounds the circuit making the light come on. If your wire has the metal spade connector hanging out the end and it touched bare metal the light will come on for as long as it touchs. Maybe it's been broken for a while. Every time you turn the ignition on the car it tests the warning lights and sensors. All the warning light should come on until you start the car. If they don't you should find and fix the problem.

For 4G63's the oil pressure switch is usually on the front side of the oil filter housing and the oil pressure sender is on the back. The male spade connector doesn't normally disconnect from the switch so if its off you are most likely going to need a new switch.

Here's the only picture I could quickly find. The switch is on the upper left hand side half in and out of the picture. The big can at the bottom is the oil pressure sender for the gauge.
