First startup
don't mind the foam, just building some fiberglass flares, and the exhaust leak.

Was that a picture of the air filter being that close to the exhaust? That's gonna do more harm then good..It's supposed to be a cold air intake..Not get heat off the exhaust intake..

Actually the S-series was a pretty robust little engine made entirely by Saturn. It was completely devoid of GM involvement, which turned out to be a good thing.

There's a whole cult Saturn following that I learned about a while back. Another member on this site schooled me when I talked bad about Saturns. Not something I'd be into, but a souped up Saturn gets a lot of uniqueness points I suppose :)

I have to agree with this. At least get an air filter canister around the intake to shield it. Similar to the canister that is around the 1g's intake.

Hehe nice. Takes me back to my SWB SC1. 1996 with the 2g Dash, and rest was 1g interior. That little sucker was a grippy little bastard. Just was not nearly as much of an aftermarket. I ended up parting my turbo setup and going back to stock to get my down payment for my Redline.

Edit:

To be clear, it was an SC1 with a DOHC 5-Speed Swap. Love that car.

if you look close that is the charge pipe from the 60-1 going around to the IC, you can see from the silicone couplers on top.

This was suppose to be a couple posts up. LOL.

I think that's the I.C. piping next to the air filter.

O.P. nice car/ build. What numbers do you think you'll be throwing down. I didn't know people modded Saturn's either and its pretty sweet. What's the mod list on this beast?

i had an old T3 setup on a stock motor that would run mid to high 13's. So funny spanking people in a saturn.
this is my old setup that i DD for years. i had the IC anodized black and painted the fiberglass ducting around it. without cutting there was not room to move the air filter out of the engine bay.

So much non DSM hate...

Anyways, there's a guy in my neighborhood who's had this blue turbo saturn, looks like yours. Back in 1999 or something I was a small child, and saw him hauling down my street leaving black smoke behind him. That's probably one of the times that made me go "I wanna do that when I'm older".

Yeah that's definitely not exhaust guys... :thumb:

Car is kinda cool. Any videos? I'm curious as to what the engine tone sounds like.

it has custom grind turbo cams. need more time with it so i can get it to idle down. i was lucky and got uncut blank cams from someone who used to work for saturn so i have them waiting when i find the profile i like.
o.. here is a pic of the head, EGR port welded closed, water port moved to where egr used to be so it no longer went though the intake, ports massively opened. the reason a intake manifold was made is because the stock one would no longer fit the ports of the head

it is fun. i have custom built progress coilovers. they made them for a short while, really ride nice. but now i put in stiffer springs for scca. this has been a really long process getting things built. I started this before i got my DSM, but i am going to finish it. i must say though after driving my AWD DSM.... FWD SUCKS!!!

I give you props for starting a project that not many other people would, and vowing to finish it even though (imo) the dsm is more user friendly to mod. Was this the most built saturn that you knew about while you were working for saturn performance?

when i started building my saturn i wanted to build something not everyone and there mother could go out and buy parts for. i wanted to be different. yes the dsm is more user friendly to mod, i had to build my harness and MS2, not just buy a chip or ecmlink, my turbo manifold is made from SC40 SS, i could not just buy a turbo manifold (at the time) don't get me wrong, i love how easy it is to buy a bolt on 20g for my talon, but i feel a way bigger accomplishment building my saturn. the highest out put real saturn (non ecotec) 440whp turbo and nitrous. his motor was no were near mine, i plan to beat that on just turbo. the fastest drag saturn pull a low 11s, with a stock head, log intake and exhaust manifold. there are a few high HP saturns but it takes allot of work. hence why there is only a few.

So does anyone make a T4 inlet 3" vband hosing for a HX35? if so i might be lucky and not have to change my exhaust. i would like to try an HX35 VS the BB 60-1 on it now.

Actually, my Saturn is taking away time from my DSM, but in all fairness the DSM has been put on the back burner untill my wife graduates in December. When she starts making $40.00 an hour I will have a little more "expendable" income and less stress from worrying how to pay the house payment and shop payment. Then the DSM will get the time/money she deserves.

I agree with the look you get from people when you spank their azz (at the track of course) with a tupperware-mobile. My Redline stock for stock was actually a little quicker than my 1gb. I have since dropped down to a 2.9 pulley, 60# injectors, cat delete, Watts'Up CAI, solid motor mounts, HP Tuned, and a set of dual Interceptors. Fun little car to drive.
