so 2 hours later after trying to hookup a radio for my, mom in my car, cause shes taking my dsm to miama on wensdsay, i look up wiring on google i assume google isnt wrong but i cant get it to turn on, i got 2/red and blacks clipped toghter with a metal bowtie clip, tryed those like google said and ACC is blue like google says, and ground to is chassic like, google says, but still no power and due to in the midde of movie i dont have a multimeter, to test for 12v postive and i kno its not the headunit cause i hooked it up to my pc,

Do they speak English in florida? I'm not tryin' to be a dick, but you're making it too easy. I'm strictly 1G, so IDK what is/isn't the same as far as wire colors go. I'd go out to my car and list you every-single wire, but I might just be causing you more confusion if they aren't the same. Quit dickin' around, go to best-buy, and get the adapter harness, before you blow-up the new head unit. We need some more info if we're gonna' help you, but take time to make sure that you're making sense. "Two reds and a black tied with a bow-tie clip" makes no sense to me, but it sounds bad. Do you have the instructions for the head unit? Blue would be the turn-on for an amp, and/or power antenna. There might be two blues, one for amp, one for antenna. Someone here has a 2G in there garage with the radio out. They'll chime-in soon enough, but you should search the site. It's got to be up here somewhere. Seriously, go get the adapter plug, and quit hacking-up the factory harness. That shit pisses me off. If it's a 1G, say so, and I'll hook you up.

No it's a 2g and this is just temp for my mo to make it to Miami my soundstream head unit is in California for warranty, and 2 black and red, clamped together with like a black ring, I haven't had a head unit hooked up before just bought a couple weeks ago, and I will do it right when I get my radio back give me a second I'll edit with pics,

As sad above I can't make out what you are saying Robert and tbe pictures won't help out either as each connector for each head unit is colored differently for wires.

Generally red and yellow is power and black is ground.

I kno the headunit fine, it's the car harness. For my headunit power - yellow, ground- black, red- acc, but for my car all I kno is that pic of the screw and black wire is ground, LOL. I have no yellow to match to, and I've tried traditional diagrams and either they aren't right or I'm dumb,

Harnesses aren't proprietary any more. Sony is notorious for being a 9 pin connection from the head unit alone. That's normally 4 wires for speakers, 1 positive (red), 1 ground (black), 1 POWER Antena (light blue), 1 remote hook up (which turn on devices like amplifiers when engaged and is dark blue) and lastly 1 to tell it to turn on/off with the car (yellow/ignition). Furthermore, you can buy an aftermarket harness for the car's wiring to the back of the head units wiring. Nonetheless, you can use the yellow wire to the ignition LV wire that's back in that mess some where. i'll check the color of the wire from the cars harness for you later today. good luck til then.

check your PM box, realized you were a county over and i have everything to bail you out.

There should be eight speaker wires! And yellow is the back-up 12V line for the clock & memory power. Red is the main power, orange is the wire switched-on with the ignition. Those are all on the stereo-side of the harness.

I have radio out of my 2g I sold it on craigslist, becuae I have a 2nd pioneer hd.

I'll take picture of mine looks now, I have that aftermarket harness they said. But mine was for a Sony cd player. Agree Sony suck, but the lesbians that bought it liked it.

My picture will show how to install aftermarket harness.

Circuit city installed, my pioneer in my old 2g white one in my gallery. Guy cut the harness end from the pioneer and he wired each wire to speaker wire, he said he had to rewire the whole car ? whatever he did car was fine radio played.

Give me a few hours I been up all night

Head unit harnesses are standard wiring colors, unless as someone pointed out that it's a stupid company like Sony. Also, colors for our car's wiring is usually never right and the only way to get a proper match is to use the pin number of the connector. You should have just got a harness to plug into the car. Now that you ripped everything apart you gotta multimeter test your voltage sources AND figure out what speakers are what. And make sure that ground you have is good. It looks like you are trying to match the head unit colors to the car's wire colors which is a big NONO.

im sorry for putting it in the hangout, but i didnt want to cludder up the newbie, since i have never had a problem wiring a radio before this car LOL,

Like I have said before :) I have no problems with the headunit harness and don't want a harness adapter cause this isn't permanent this need to know what is 12v constant, and what's acc, on the cars harness, if it's what gogle pulls up somethings wrong with my car LOL,

You need a multimeter before touching any kind of wiring. They can be had for VERY cheap. I recommended a harness adaptor because they AREN'T permanent and would have just been the easiest, since you just match colors between that and the head unit harness. Those pictures of the wiring look downright scary to me, with a bunch of sets of wires having 2 or 3 connected to each other on the car harness side.

Here's mine without a radio installed. OP this could help you, the end result should look like this.

White plug is the aftermarket harness for the crappy Sony HD I had, Black/red strip is the power, solid gray is the ground I think and far right fat black plug is the antenna , there's another one I think its for a cd changer not sure though because the ends are taped up.

Oh well. $10 bucks for a harness to solve all your issues, permanent or not.

RESOLVED, blue was my 12v constand and RED= ACC and i re grounded it and everything worked fine radio is now out, :( waiting on mine from soundstream,
