I went to do a shifter adjustment on my 94 Laser RS Turbo FWD and noticed some things I have never seen before when doing an adjustment.

1) The cable on the right is non adjustable. There is no barrel bolt to adjust anything. What is that about? Is it normal for this trim? (See pic)

2) I noticed that there is a black rubber bushing which is cracked. Does that effect anything? (See pic)

Thanks for any info!

That 3rd link seems very informative. I've had 3 91's and 1 92. All have had adjustable cables.
That rubber bumper is there to limit side to side motion.
I would go get another cable set from a 91-94 and rebuild that shifter or source a good used one With matching cables.

Thanks for the read. It does seem to be normal to have only one adjuster for 1gbs though..."possibly".

I'll take a look at my 93 TSI and see what I find. Might do some pulling!.

My 93 TSI AWD's right cable (facing the front of the car) is not adjustable....just took a look. Maybe this became the norm at some point?
