Shift Light

Trying to hook up my shift light, has three wires, Red for power, Black for ground, and the trigger/tach wire. Which wire on the car is the trigger/tach wire or Neg, that i need to splice into, and where is it located, I see many cars with shift lights. PLEASE HELP a new guy out.... Thanx.

Try the connector on the firewall. I've used that one b4. I had to switch the tach to "2 cylinder" mode though in order to get the proper reading.
