I recenlty installed a Shepracing Full Race unit (used) and a new axle seal, and had the (fairly) new halfshaft fitted with a new circlip. The "C-clip" looked really big and loose when I got the halfshaft back, but I was told its supposed to be that way because it closed when the shaft is installed.

When I jacked the car up only a few miles of driving after transmission install, it was leaking pretty well from the axle seal. When I filled it, I put 2 quarts of GM Syncromesh with the car slightly jacked up. (unlevel) I am almost certain that there was very little to no fluid left in the transmission when I recieved/installed it.

So,..
Upgrades reduce fluid capacity?
Bad (new) seal?
Over-fill?

Fluid capacity should be the same, as the casing is still OEM. Roughly 2.7 quarts.

As stated above, you will not receive a transmission that is full. You are obligated to fill it with fluid upon installation.

The tranny is designed to be filled with the car level, otherwise, you will not know if you are overfilling or underfilling. And if fluid is leaking out of the halfshaft seal, then you have problems. I once gernaded my diff. and the pieces of metal tore everything up pretty bad. I was leaking from the same spot you are.

Drain the fluid that is in there. Pull the halfshaft and replace the seal again. Reinstall it and make sure it's in all the way. Then, with the car level, fill it up until it begins to spill out from the filler hole.
