I was looking for a new turbo for my 97 GSX and was thinking about the PTE 60 trim dbb (scm4431re) because the turbine wheel is lighter than the 60-1, but still can support up to 565 hp. I wanted to know what feedback you guys had on the turbo, spool up on it, psi running, etc.. Or if you had any other suggestions that would be in this price range or cheaper. My goal is to be mid to high 400's, maybe even low 500's on a street driven car. I'm looking to get some Brian Crower stage 2 (272's) cams and maybe some Wiseco 9.0:1 forged pistons. Keep in mind I will be using 94 octane gas, around 25 pounds of boost, and its and automatic tranny.

Thanks.

The 101200's are almost the same, only a little bit more lift and less duration. I looked into the gt30/35 ordeal, but then I would need to purchase t3/t4 manifold and an o2 housing from punishment racing, then an external 02. No doubt this is the best way...but not on a budget. From there I looked at the PTE turbos with the Garrett center sections and the FP3065 but those are still a little bit too pricey, unless if I can get a used setup. I just emailed a guy in classifieds selling an FP3065, 3" o2 housing, tial wastegate, and injectors.

On note of the 60 trim turbo, I heard that the E covers by PTE surge on thier bigger wheels. I was wondering if cutting the housing by the flapper would help this, or if i should just get the 50 trim. On note of the 50 trim, I looked at some compressor maps and looks like the 60 trim only flows 2 lbs more of air, and over a smaller power band. So on paper the 50 trim is a better turbo..but I want to know how it is in real life, so any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
