Hey guys, just thought I'd share this bit of information. For anyone looking into a rwd setup on the 2.0/2.4 block, the trans of choice for the dodge guys has been the R154 from a mkiii supra...until about a year ago.

The MA-5 from a 2.8l Chevy Colorado has been confirmed to work without the need for shaving the Liberty bellhousing. Here's a link to the turbododge thread explaining the setup. MA-5 Confirmed to work for Chrysler 2.0/2.4 Block

The R154 input shaft is slightly shorter which requires the bellhousing to be shaved down for proper fitment. Apparently, the MA-5 input shaft is about 1/2" longer, the synchros are beefier, and can be picked up for a fraction of the cost of the R154. The R154 runs anywhere from $800 to $1300 used, whereas the MA-5 can be picked up for $300 to $500.

Short story long, MA-5= beefier, cheaper, less fabrication: WINNING!:D

    *EDIT* Link fixed

I also want to point out that the 2.0/2.4 refers to the 420a or Neon SOHC and DOHC blocks (one in the same) 2.4 cloud car block and also the SRT4 block. They all share the same bellhousing to block bolt pattern. For anyone confused on this setup, there are ony a handful of trans to bellhousing bolt patterns for most rwd transmissions on the road today. However, the tricky part is getting the proper block to bellhousing pattern along with the proper input shaft length. There is a lengthy thread on this subject with multiple trans/bellhousing combinations for other applications, but I am at work right now and can't spend too much time on this thread at the moment. I know I have it bookmarked on my laptop at home and will get that thread linked ASAP.

Just curious, what would one want to do with a 420A, in a RWD application?

Powerstomp the HRC 420a turbo record....or drift.

Here's a link to the different combinations of transmissions and bellhousings and their applications. Trans/Bellhousing Combos

Haters are gonna hate, but I would love to see a FULL rwd 2.4 swap on a 2gnt.

There are still 20 other cars out there that will out drift a rwd 420a 2g in bone stock form. I see the wanting to be different thing, but if you are wanting to be competitive than there are WAY better choices.

It's completely a wanting to be different thing. I know a lot of guys have been shaking their head at this project. So long as I'm satisfied in the end, that's all that matters. It's mainly going to be drag, but with the independent suspension in the rear I can track it or drift it, too.

I'm guessing it would be an automatic?
