1G Rpms go up without accelerating

Might depend on if the car is lsd or not. Was yours?

It was 17 yrs ago. Tough to remember that far back. I want to say yes. It was a 3 bolt fwiw

Mine has LSD diff.
I stopped by and looked at the axles. All looks good besides a newly discovered leak. Seems to be a clue something is wrong here because it never leaked from here before. I will drain it and pop the cover off tomorrow afternoon.

I wouldn’t bother. Just might need a new seal. I’d start looking at the transfer case or tcase input.

I had some time to swing by the garage today and jack up each wheel to see how they behaved while in gear.
-Both front wheels rolled freely about an inch and then had resistance but could still rolled if I forced it.
-Back passenger wheel same thing as fronts and I could see driveshaft turning with it.
-Back drivers side wheel spun freely with no resistance and driveshaft would not turn with it.
Seems that axle must be broken in the rear diff. Hence why I have a new leak out of that seal.
I will have time tomorrow afternoon to pull rear diff cover off and axle to inspect.

Well I pulled the rear drivers axle out and what do ya know

I think I’ll be doing a 4 bolt swap when I can get my hands on one. But for now I’m gonna hunt down a 3 bolt axle.

Yes, that one definitely looks broken. So it was just kind of riding on the oil seal, and caused it to leak? You must have some type of LSD, but interesting to see how little torque it would hold.
