    Born and raised in Chicago.

    Former Marine ( 11yrs of service )

I am about to purchase a Galant Vr4 ( shell ) and it needs a motor.

Ive always been fond of the awd world since I owned my last evo. ( sold it to finish school)

So overall I really don't know much on how to work on pistons LOL.

I would like to make it a fun 12 sec daily if possible.

Overall if you guys have any stock 6 bolt motors laying around please let me know.

I am sure I will need help to install and build it.

So I look towards being a friend of the community.

    Welcome !

Thank you for your service !

Besides the spinny triangles inside your motor - the outsides are mainly the same. More air, more fuel = bigger boom = you go faster !

I have a 6 bolt spare block but I'm not in Illinois, I did however watch a movie about that area once , it involved 2 brothers, one was fresh out of Joliet prison. It seemed like a great place!

So I bought one and this thing is overheating on me.

Ive changed the thermostat, radiator cap, fans working, it pushed the water out of the reservoir.

    Is it the head gasket

You would need a compression or cylinder leak down test to tell you that for sure. Did you burp the system? Does the coolant overflow properly drain back into the motor once the car cools down? Does it only push coolant when it overheats or does it also do it when you hit boost?

    ******** UPDATE*******
I took the radiator cap off last night while it was running and you can tell there was a lot of bubbles coming
up from the radiator. I basically did that till it flowing through normal.
Drove it for about an hour and at a red light it started overheating till I would boost and you'll see the temp
drop back to normal ( What the hell LOL )
what can that be? is it the head gasket?

Radiator could be clogged, or it could be lack of airflow at a stop from someone removing the fan shroud / ducting. Check the radiator to make sure it's not clogged and that all ducting is in place. I think it goes without saying, and that the fans are comnig on once the coolant temp gets tooo... (can't recall) Depends on if it's a 1G or 2G... GVR4's may be the same as 1g?

I actually do not have a fan shroud. I will check the radiator tonight. I will remove it and see what is up with it. Also fan is always running. Its been connected to the Alternator. So its running.

Front mounts are know for interfering with the cooling abilities of the radiator. Try to free up some room to let your radiator breathe.

You may have to make some ducting. I would look into some other people's designs using sheet metal and pop rivets. Low cost easy to work with and effective. Thin sheets of plastic I suppose might also be an option depending on the type, for a more factory look.

The larger the gap the more room the air has to take a path that offers less resistance. (Go around it) you want to seal up a path as best you can that directs the air that's passed through the FMIC into the radiator.

In that case he could route a ram air duct from the stock smic location to the radiator, and could keep under hood temps down also!!!

Well I replaced the water pump which by the way it was fun!!! LOL. Especially doing the timing LOL. It kept bouncing on me. It kept over heating. So it is the Head gasket. everything else has been replaced accept the head. So I will be trying for it this weekend.

Wish me luck! I will need it LOL
