Toronto,
Hi,
The car I'm buying (1993 Talon Tsi AWD)just had the alternator replaced and since then the seatbelt light won't turn off. Any idea what that could be?

Is that a car with the automatic seatbelt stranglers? If so then finding the problem could be just that -- a problem. My belts sometimes move [or don't move] as they please!!!! The dash light may blink on or off depending upon the alignment of the planets, so it seems!!! There are many limit [and sensor] switches in the motor units [driver's and passenger's sides] and in the seatbelt LAP retractors.... all of which can get funky. There's also a control module thingy and some relays inside the driver's side panel at the rear seat. I took mine apart last fall and got absolutely nowhere [fixing it]... AND I'm an electrical engineer!!!, or so it says on the inside of my school ring!!! You'd think that I'd be able to troubleshoot the damn thing!
When I get up the energy, I'll have to look at it again.
Maybe you'll be lucky and find an unplugged connector under the passenger seat!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!

ps.... Is the passenger shoulder belt hooked into the holder??

Of course if you don't have the 'strangler' system [in Canadian models] then forget all that I've written!!!!! I'm just a ninny!!

Just to confirm, no I don't have the strangler seat belts. LOL.
I do appreciate your effort tho.

Oh shit..... I AM A NINNY !!!
Oh well, there probably are seatbelt switches located somewhere that sense if belts are unfastened. That could be your problem. I don't know Canadian models!!!
Sorry for the long story about nothing!:barf:

I'm not sure if it would be a sensor, it could be. The guy said it started right after the alternator was replaced. I'm thinking maybe a ground got crossed or something like that. Anyone have any idea? I'm sure it's nothing major, but it definitely is annoying. I'll end up yelling, "My seatbelts are fastened a$$hole!!!!!!!!!!!!" Oh well. Thanks for your time.
