reccomendations on turbo-backs?

proper maintenance, taking it easy, not a way heavy duty clutch. If your engine has come this far, its likely it won't happen.

unless you do something stupid.

EDIT:
you can put 272s in without springs/retainers, but why not:D

these beehive springs are pretty impressive <embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf?video=68ed17e0-0e9e-4575-8e13-9a7000feb771" width="428" height="352" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed><br/><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Beehive-Valve-Spring-in_155966.htm">Beehive+Valve+Spring+in+Action</a>

yeah i read that you can but i recently viewed some videos of the valves bouncing back in a little bit, due to the weakness of the springs. i don't wanna chance this happening with larger camshafts. i'll get the spring kit first :)

That is a big thing right there that you said, maintenance and you're right; if it hasn't happened now, it prob. wont until you get a super heavy pressure plate.

Some 272's can go in without new springs. Remember, 272 is just a number which doesn't accuratly depict the lift on the cams. Cam lift and duration is what really matters and is what determins if you need new springs to run the cams. Plus if you plan on going to at least 8500RPM it's good to upgrade from stock so you do'nt float your valves.

I have posted a similar video to that not too long ago. Basically the good thing about beehive springs is they will allow you to run higher RPMs than cylindrical springs. The reason behind that is since they are tapered, the spring pressure is increased the further down to the base you go. Also with their design, vibrations will be absorbed into an oscilliation action within the spring itself as well. You will see the middle section bouncing up and down unlike a cylindrical spring which when vibrating will spin.

ohhh hahhaha.

just a newbie question...
with an intake, 3" turbo-back, aftermarket o2, aftermarket headers, BOV, FMIC, 272/272 cams, HX35 turbo and a BC spring/retainer kit and the rest stock internals..
what would the car be able to handle without abusing the engine (on a stock head)? (psi)
around how much horsepower would that make?

This list leaves out fuel mods. Don't forget that if you want to turn the boost up more then a couple pounds over stock you're going to need a new fuel pump, afpr (depending on size of fuel pump), injectors, and something to compensate for the new injectors.

i was thinking DSMlink, 650cc injectors, 255lph pump.
what is highly recommended for an ECU upgrade that doesn't cost 2g?

would i need to upgrade the fuel pressure system?

Yo Cory, tried to PM you but got the "No PMs Please" block. I'm a stone's throw away. Wanna have a word, about this topic and other stuff. :)

Dont get the 650s if you get ecmlink. or even a chipped 1995 ecu or a reflasheable 1998-1999 ecu. There's not much cost difference between 650s and much larger and the driveability is identical.

is there a way to fix this so i can actually recieve PMs?

well i can control the fuel flow with some sort of link if i'm understanding this correctly, so i'll probably just get bigger ones
