1G Rear Differential knocking

hey guys i just bought this car and i know nothing about DSM's.

Ok so this is my problem. every gear i shift i would hear this loud knocking noise from my rear differential and it would shake the whole middle console part as if somethings about to fall off, so i took it to this shop and the mechanic told me i needed a new rear differential and then he tells me that my front driver side axle is broken as well but it's driveable.

so i just got him a new rear differential with LSD for my car. i just got the car back today from the shop and i drove it home it was cool. when i got home i heard the same noise again and this time it was doin it in 3rd gear and then slowly it started doin it in all the gears like before. now i am thinkin is it my broken axle which is further causing my rear differential to mess up or somethin' as i said i dont know anything about these cars, so please help. any help would be appreciated.

its a 90 Talon TSI AWD.

Go under your car and see if you can move the driveshaft up and down, and back and forth. It should not move, also a bad cv axle will make a ticking noise. Does it make the noise while accelerating or deaccel or coasting?
