quick shifter adjustment question!!

ok quick question... when adjusting the cables at the shifter, i noticed that the left cable(side to side), can be stretched. For example, if i pull the cotter pin, then pop the fish eye, i can push or pull it about an inch. How are you supposed to adjust that?

I like to disconnect the Cable Ends at Shifter then go under the Hood - Check for worn bushings at the Shift Cable ends where they attach to the Tranny levers - Make sure the detente' is engaging at the Lever (under the big Nut that looks like a Fill Cap next to the Lever) - Check for loose Fasteners at the 2 piece Tranny Bracket that supports the Shifter Cables where it attaches to Tranny - Loose Fasteners &/or worn Isolation Bushings where that 2 piece Bracket bolts together & where it attaches to cables - THEN go inside to the shifter adjustment points - IF there is no lost motion at any of the underhood checkpoints & you still have that "slop" start off attaching it at "mid slop" then drive it thru the gears & bias where it shifts best while driving.

well i found what it is... not sure if its a bad thing, or an ehhh ok thing.. On the trans lever for the side to side, there is a bar that contacts the other lever so they move togeather(i know i know, bad explanation).. will its hard to tell whats wrong with it from up top, but there is slop in there. I just put it in the center so its equal distance up or down.
