hey all,

I am new to DSM and cars in general. Of course i have a general knowledge. I have researched a lot in the past month or so, so i understand a lot more than i did before. The guides on this website rule. I got my fathers old 2G 96 Eclipse GST that he blew an engine in. He blames it on the guy who owned it before him but whatever.

He got a different, more stock, engine and a bunch of OEM/Factory parts as he was going to convert it back to avoid blowing another engine. then he never touched the car again, never to be put back together, until now at least. He said there was one problem that he thinks is the ECU or a fuel sensor, when he was going down the road the car would act as if it was fuel starved and kind of stall, but it would stop after a moment. I have no clue if the ECU has an EPROM on it, i have to check it and that will have to wait a few days.

He ported a lot of parts that never touched the oil, this includes a 1G cam sensor, good thing it was never started because he never the firing order on the new engine was never changed.

I will have the car up and running by at most November 2019, i need to save up to buy fluids and do general maintenance like Mystery Oil in the head an manually cranking as it has sat for 6 years+.

A few side notes are

it is not running a stock inter cooler, though i have one and all the piping necessary to run it + a factory BOV.

No stock radiator, i have one from cxRacing

I need to check to see if the turbo is stock, the one that was on it was a Chinese turbo and the bearing on that one are going bad

I have a 1g Cams and Throttle body, i don't get the idea behind converting them

I have a stock wiring harness as the one on the car is beat up, has no knock sensor, and in general is probably time to replace. (if it comes to my attention that the 1G parts are better ill follow the converting guide on DSMTuners).

I have not done a compression test or a leak down test, and if my car fails them i wont be doing much with it until I get that fixed. Id have to get garage space anyway and if i did, i would wanna do an engine overhaul, as i am young and want my car to go fast and handle more boost.

I already have a boost gauge and a manual boost controller, though my father says its Chinese so ill probably change it out.

I have a K&N air filter on it, no bracket to support it and a stock air filter to turbo piping.

The evap system is removed but i have the factory purge valve and might reinstall it if necessary

I have an aftermarket BOV that feeds into the turbo (I'm young but not stupid to atmosphere it), though again its not name brand and will likely be replaced.

The crank shaft is pulling from atmosphere though everything i saw online says it is not a good idea, so ill use the factory piping for now to run into the PCV from my intake.

This is my first dive into any sort of a Mod scene and i'm still very noobish, please go easy on me

I'm following the guide on basic horsepower increase and my goal is 300 hp, its a FWD and and really cannot drag well

I am putting together a lists of parts i've found online, following the hp increase guide though i am still researching this.

Holy. Crap.

What was the question here? LOL

i was kind of wondering the same thing. But at least the guy did some research!! Im thinking maybe he was just looking for confirmation that hes on the right path.

OP- everything looks ok to me. Things i would change to help save some money, no need for an expensive exhaust system, i got a Megan downpipe for like 125$ and an off brand cat back for probably the same price and it sounded just as good as my buddys apexi N1. Also i see you linked a clutch disk from TMZ, awesome. Tim is an awesome guy to work with. I just bought my second south bend clutch because i liked my first so much. So with that said, an ACT pressure plate you will notice has a heavier pedal feel. I had a south bend ss pressure plate and a tz/fe disk and it held up to 475 wheel torque. 10/10 would recommend!
An lsd would be ok but not really necessary for the power youre looking at. At least right now. If you HAD to have the trans rebuilt then sure id say do it while youre there. Save the money and put it else where.
An FP black is WAY overkill for what youre looking for and the 190 fuel pump will be way over run before you even touch its potential, not to mention i didnt see anything about fuel injectors. A 16g or 20g will most likely suit all your needs and will be a complete bolt on and you wont have to change your oil filter housing. Not sure your reasoning for that anyways. As for an ecu, you COULD convert it to eprom but really no need. There are used ECMlink ecu’s for sale all the time for 500$. Oh and as long as your harmonic balancer looks to be in good condition id leave it.
Think i covered most of what i wanted to.
