I have a friend with a talon tsi trying to sell me selling some 550cc python injectors for my turbo build(amassing parts now), but I've been reading alot of bad things about venom/python injectors. Anyone have any input?

something tells me your gonna want to stay away from those, at least until you can layout your entire fuel needs.

fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator or fmu, or sfmu, stock injectors, or slightly bigger or big injectors (440cc+). megasquirt, porterfuler, or whatever else you could use for fuel, get an idea of what you need to power what you've got.

You might realize u don't need those injectors, weather or not they are quality or not.

I've got:

an exhaust manifold for the 420A w/ a t3 flange
2.5" black plumbing, couplers and clamps
SSQ Blow off valve, BOV flange built into pipe
external wastegate
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Boost Controller
t3/t4 ball bearing turbo (no name ebay turbo)
large front mount intercooler
and an air filter

I'm planning on running about 8-10 psi on my current build. That way I dont have to replace the fuel pump right away. I am still looking to rebuild my block, and eventually down the road, push 30psi, or at least, like, 15psi with a 100(hp) shot NOS kit, but you get the angle I'm coming from. This actually leads to another question I had. I read somewhere Hahn Racecraft offers a 420A N/T rebuild kit for $1,100 that is good for up to 600 horsepower, can anyone confirm this? I looked and couldnt find anything on their website, but I also cant find the original post where I read this either.

So either way, yea. I dont plan on replacing my fuel pump right away, so I'm limited to about 8-10psi. Which is fine b/c I dont want to do much more then that on my stock internals. So back to the fuel injectors, what do you think?

and, how long do I stay a New Member? I'm tired of posting turbo questions in the bolt on forum ;P

I would personally advise you not to get those injectors. I would recommend you looking into a walbro 255lph fuel pump and an sfmu to finish up your fuel needs for now. Then once you rebuild with forged parts and learn how to tune the sfmu, then you can push about 15 psi by purchasing some larger injectors. Once you understand turbosystems and there demands more you can upgrade to a megasquirt enginge management set-up or simply purchase a portfueler from hahn. You might want to take baby steps for now and buy more versatile products like the sfmu for instance to save money over time on parts.

4UH8ERS, could you go into further detail with your recommendation?

The reason I'm looking at getting injectors is because our stock injectors cap out at like 4psi, but our stock fuel pumps are good for up to 8-10psi. At least that is my understanding. Also, I already bought a FPR, so why would I just turn around and reorder a SFMU? Arent they basically the same thing?

Wouldnt getting a FPR/injectors and boosting at 8psi out of box make more sense then spending more money on a fuel pump/SFMU and getting caping out at 4psi on stock injectors. Also, if I max my stock injectors out, wont they start to clip, run lean, and eventually blow my engine?

dude, our stock fuel pumps aren't good for any kind of boost. maybe a couple pounds depending on the turbo size....but you will find yourself SOL with that fuel setup.

I would personally,

A) get a 255 walbro High flow fuel pump and 12:1 vortech FMU and run the stock injectors up to 8-9psi where it just about maxes out.

That right there will cost you under 200 and will let you boost until your motor is ready for its rebuild.

After the rebuild I would go with hahn's porterfuler 8 injector setup, its easy to run, comes tuned from hahn when you tell them the size of the secondary injectors. And not much you have to do to boost 20+ psi depending on turbo size.

For your goals this seems to be the easiest path, but if you did what to another option, megasquirt is always there but does require some extensive knowledge and research.

sure np. you have to get a new fuel pump so you mine as well go with the 255lph so you dont end up needing to upgrade later since there the same price as the 190. You have to get some sort of fuel management unit and afpr alone is worthless. so i advise the sfmu because you can get one used for a very good price and its better than a regular 12:1 because its slightly tuneable and is capable of up to 20psi with good tuning and wideband.

The reason I'm looking at getting injectors is because our stock injectors cap out at like 4psi, ?

no sir, if you raise fuel pressure with a 255lph fuel pump are stock injectors are capable of up to 9psi.

but our stock fuel pumps are good for up to 8-10psi. At least that is my understanding.?

wrong again, are stock fuel pumps are practically worthless for boosted applications.

Also, I already bought a FPR, so why would I just turn around and reorder a SFMU? Arent they basically the same thing??

no they are not the same thing. Just the name alone should tell you that. 1:1 afpr and 12:1 fmu? cmon now i know you researched right?

Wouldnt getting a FPR/injectors and boosting at 8psi out of box make more sense then spending more money on a fuel pump/SFMU and getting caping out at 4psi on stock injectors. Also, if I max my stock injectors out, wont they start to clip, run lean, and eventually blow my engine?

wow, an FPR and some 550's your out of your mind. maybe with a portfueler because the 550's dont even kick in until boost is applied, but at idle?!!. your car probably would not run for more than 5 seconds.

I had the 720cc python injectors and they are manufactured in the poorest of quality. One injector was so bad the fuel leaked between the top and bottom part of the injector. Buy a different injector from the link I posted in your other post.

I worked for a company that sold Pyton/Venom products. they had great OEM stuff but the aftermarket parts are crap. their customer service blows and we had alot of problems with mismatched injectors. stay far away from them.
