Well I have a 97 gst and well to make a long story short I have an awd flywheel on my fwd car and the engine just went back in and is all together. Is there anyway to just slip the tranny out from under neith or are my better off pulling the whole motor out again thanks

Ok Im assuming you want to do this so you can put the FWD flwwheel back in right? If you are DONT, the FWD and AWD flywheels are EXACTLY the same. I know from experience. When I swapped In my new 6 bolt it came out of my FWD parts car and i figured the flywheels are gonna be different so Im gonna have to swap them. Well as soon as I pulled the old engine out of my car and took the flywheel off I compared them side by side. They are EXACTLY the same, I even weighed them, no difference. Its a myth that they are different. There I just saved you tons of work. And by the way you dont have to take the engine out to get the tranny off.

I thought they were different for sure?!?! Even RRE claims they are different. To answer the question... yes you can just drop the trans out the bottom instead of taking the whole engine and trans out.

Well on a 1g they are the same anyways, I just relooked at your post and saw that you have a 2g, so I may be wrong. But the flywheel from my FWD parts car and my AWD laser were exactly the same.

I have always heard they are different, that is why when you buy an aftermarket flywheel they specify FWD or awd.
