The majority of us here are adults, and I think we should be typing like them. I myself never took a typing class, but have learned on my own how to type so you all can too.

And for this, I present the 'I have proper grammar' club opening.

wath teh maening ov thiss , wea dontt needd a aie hevee proopear spkellingg cloob , Thiss way i me riting is verry mooch fine .

No but seriously, sometimes I find it funny , people can drive cars but can't even spell right

Let's add spelling to the curriculum while we're at it. Lesson number one. The word definitely. It's not definately, or defenitly, or defanitly, or whatever you cough up at the moment. It's DEFINITELY. Come on, people. You can do it. It's not that difficult.

And I disagree that the majority of us here are adults. I think adults are the minority here because the value of our DSMs have dropped to the point where even pimply faced kids can afford them now, hence the poor grammar and spelling on this forum.

Remember this? I fall in the 28-33 group but it looks like most eveyone else is under 27. Thats why there are so many useless comments, childish arguments, and bad/incorrect grammar. I would definitely say the adults are the minority here. :thumbdown

I am quite fond of this club. :D

I am 19 years old. I promise you that my spelling is horrible and my grammar imperfect. Only adults such as you can ever possibly be perfect when using the English language. Please be kind to the rest of us “pimple-faced” young men wild in our typing and reckless with our punctuation.

Hey now, I don't think it's fair to assume that only "pimply faced kids" type badly. While this is true of the majority of them, to make a generalization like that isn't very fair to the rest of us. :(

But I must admit..it is pretty annoying. Especially the people that type only in caps..

Also about us "pimply faced kids" being able to afford them, I'd like to think that most kids my age perfer civics, integras and other such imports, not DSMs...but for the ones that do like DSMs, heh, give us a break, c'mon we're the next generation... :p

I am 18 years of age and I am hardly a "pimple-faced" teen. I kind of enjoy taking good care of my skin. :thumbdown

I like this club too. Unfortunately, this won't get through to most. Being as some skulls are thicker than others. Very sad, the decline of self respect...

Just a quick overview of your "I have proper grammer" club opening statement.

You are supposed to use a double space after every period before starting your new sentence.

I don't believe that "I myself" belong back to back.

This is how I would have written this sentence...
The majority of the tuners on this site are adults and should be able to type like one. I have never taken a typing class yet I have been able to learn how to type on my own. You are all capable of doing the same.

It seem that you like to use commas when they are unnecessary. The word and is a conjunction that doesn not need to have a pause before it.

Sentences do not begin with the word and.

Maybe you should think of changing the name of your club to the "I Use Proper Grammar" club. That would make more sence since we use grammer, we don't have it.

you got me... sense :thumb: :shhh:

I would go back and edit but I can't now. :p

I mean, I was trying to see who was paying attention... yeah that's it. :D

The thing I hate the most is when people say "I should of." It's "I should have" or "I should've." God, that pisses me off.

How 'bout we call it the "I use proper grammar" club ;)

grammar :p

I'm 19, and I type with better grammar than most. Although, I'm definitely not perfect, so you may find a mistake some time or another. But, the one thing that used to bother me a lot was using "2" instead of "to" or "too". I've come to "accept" it, but you won't see me using it :p.

Also xBOOSTx, Jebus' original post was just fine. Except myself should have been inside commas to separate it from the rest of the sentence.

I find grammar especially needed when telling a story, sometimes people can make it very hard to understnad what they are reading. If that is the only good thing that comes out of this thread, then I deem it successful.

Good God. I try to structure my sentences decently, though I do not rub it in people's faces.

You are wrong. The use of a double space after periods, commas, et cetera is only applicable when using typewriters. They are set so that each character takes up the same amount of space. For example, the letter "I" would take up the same width as the letter "M." The double space helps to differentiate the space between each punctuation mark and the following character. With computers, the space each character uses is proportional to its _actual_ width. So, normally, one would now only use one space after each punctuation mark. Unless, he is using some type of font, like "Courier New," which is a basic typewriter font.

Somebody already covered this error.

Your second sentence is a run-on. The correct sentence should read as follows, "I have never taken a typing class. Yet, I have been able to learn how to type on my own." Your correction took Jebus's comma splice and turned it into a run-on sentence. Whoops! His sentence would have been fine if he would have left out the comma before "but."

 You're joking right? When using a conjunction to transition in a compound sentence, it is required to use a comma before said conjunction. Secondly, it is acceptable to use conjunctions to begin a sentnece. Although not commonly used in practice of formal writing, it can be an effective style technique--either formal or informal.

So, where do I sign up for this club? :p
