ok, I need your help now guys...
My car is 95 TSI AWD
I have been loosing alot of coolant lately, no leaks - comes out of exhaust:(
... so the head was taken off. The guy who took it off said that the bolts were not so tight so there was hope that the problem was blown headgasket - but no, the gasket seemed fine!
so the head was inspected and pressurized carefully(in three different places). No cracks!
So I got new mitsu head bolts and new gasket and now the head is back on the car but I am still loosing alot of coolant (and now oil too)
There is a pressure in cooling system and when I take off the radiator cap I can see little bubbles of air coming out.

Do I have crack in the block?

I was looking to get another block but there simply is no such cars in my country...
I found one 1G N/A Eagle Talon... could I use a block from that car?

thanks for your input guys!

You could use the block, but yours is a 7bolt and the 1g one might be a six bolt. When using a NA block, you will lose the oil squirters to the pistons. Although not necessary, you might want to have them if building a high hp motor. Anybody else?

All you need is to mill the head and block surafce flat. No need to go buying a new block.

yes I think that 1G Talon I found is older one so it is possible that it has 6bolt engine tough I don`t know if there is such a thing like a N/A 6 bolt
But if it is then do i need to use flywheel from my 2G engine, what about crank and rods and pistons?

I am afraid that didn`t help. they milled the head and said that the block was flat

DrZiplok Is there coolant in your oil, or vice versa?

Strange thing is that there is NO coolant in oil and NO oil in coolant. But there is coolant coming out of exhaust. I tasted it and it has sweet taste to it. Car smokes like hell after I start it and run for first 100 meters or so then after some time the smoking almost stops. And then starts again after the car has been off for some time. Scary is that the amount of coolant that I am loosing is really alot. Like overflowtankfull in a day...

Okay, DON'T EVER TASTE ANYTHING THAT CAME FROM YOUR CAR. Its very dangerous. You're absolutely sure it isn't a hose?

wouldn't you be able to feel a cracked block performance wise? i have been in older fords and chevys that have cracked the block and it drove diff.

there are plenty things to check before you go and replace the block. the water pump could be leaking the coolant, there are alot of coolant hoses in the engine bay that could be broke or rotted out with holes. if worst comes to worst take it to a radiator shop and have them pressurize the system to look for leaks and to check over EVERYTHING! it will cost like $60-80, but tell them your not leaving until you find out what's up.

Ok I won`t:D But yeah, I am sure. But i feel the hoses are gona explode anytime soon!

autronicDSM: I would just mill the block anyways. You got nothing to lose if you try it.

Do I need to remove the engine from a car or can that be done on a block when it is in the car?

echo: wouldn't you be able to feel a cracked block performance wise? i have been in older fords and chevys that have cracked the block and it drove diff.

It runs like crap when I start it up, It can take several starts before car stays running.

I am still interested to know if a 1G N/A block would work with my 2G AWD car? anyone?

Thanks for space and ideas!

You don't want any metal shavings between cylinder wall and piston. Engine needs to be removed and taken apart (pistons, rods, crank go out).

maybe your turbo took a shit and is somehow getting coolant in the exhaust.

i second the could be turbo motion

take off your turbo, put the maf sensor and filter on the throttle body elbow (itll take a little rigging, but youre not driving it far anyway)

exhaust will just be dumping out of the manifold, and there will be some coolant and oil lines that need to be plugged off, but you could check that way. another easier way is to just take the turbo to a shop and get them to pull the turbine housing off and check to make sure its not getting shit leaked in to it from the bearing housing.

also check to see if there is any oil in your coolant, or any coolant in your oil. if not, it could be the turbo. if it is, it's internal engine tarfu.

If you need a block I have 2 of them, both 6 bolt motors though. But I am in Germany if you are intrested.
