Well here's the deal, i hand my mechanic $260 bucks, because he said he could get my a BOV and boost gauge ans install them, ok.

So here's the deal, the gauge is cool, autometer phantom, no prob there, but i open up the hood and there it is

this BOV, i mean i was shocked, like what the F*ck, and he has me venting, i don't know if this BOV is bad or good, it's HKS and sounds pretty good. He also replaced my cars bushings, but i mean $260? and this simple BOV??, how much can i get out of this thing?

Anyone have experience with it?

thanks

Look at the boost gauge when you are boosting if it holds then your fine. If not you need to get a new one. Are you still on the t2small cause that will drop back to 10psi on the top end. if it holds your fine.
Looks arent everything, a guy at my school has a bov mated with a t3/t4 turbo boosting 21psi on a bosch looking thing that mirrors our stocker, yet it holds every precious psi.

yeah he plugged the intake hole pretty well (looks worked on), he didn't give me the Recirculating tube but i can get it from him, i will probably go and put it back if my car keeps giving me idle problems!!

Thanks Guys!

Oh i have a 14b, also how can i see if my car holds boost? do i accelerate it in neutral??

Thanks

#1 question, did u buy these mods urself? and if not, WHY? you technically have no right to complain if u didnt either A buy the mod or B. tell him specifically what you wanted. I.E. he gets u a blitz BOV and then it starts leaking in a couple of months... u have no right to compain...

#2. why didnt u install them urself? don't complain about rates of a mechanic if you aren't willing to do it urself... the total estimated time on ur mods is like 1-2 hrs....

#3. because u didnt want to spend time and money urself u spent more than u should have for ur guages and such... But 263 isnt too bad... my BOV cost 220 and is a HKS SSQ. but you really should do your own shopping on parts, #1 it might be cheaper, and #2 its ur car!

don't vent unless you have a VPC/GCC or a MAFT

since when is using that maft crap any different that the stock mas as far as venting. my friend bought that *THING* and he still cant vent (exceot his anger) not to mention the other probs with that thing.

well, i know:

A: he paid close to $500 for the maft, sweet intake pipe, and the ramchargers translator

B: he could never get a smooth idle with his 550s.. till he put on a AFC (my afc)

C: when we hooked up my wideband we found that the changes we made with the MAFT translator would not stay... he would go from lean (14/1+) to ritch (10.5~) @5500-7500 rpms @18psi with no changes in climate, the settings made would not stay. our tests were consistantly inconsistant.

D: the "fuel cut elimination feature" didnt work at all, which was the main rason he bought that thing, we called Dejon who directed us to ramchargers who told us there had been many calls saying that they were still getting fuel cut..

E: after a month he bought an AFC and we hooked up the wideband again and managed to properly tune the fuel trims to be CONSISTANT and accurate, the rough idle was easly fixed.

but yea, what do i know:confused:

I know the MAFT has been touted as SOO good, but its so limited that the only thing its REALLY good for is opening up the intake, sure you can make ROUGH adjustments to compensate for bigger injectors and whatnot, but even with a good wideband its very hard to tune out consistant numbers with it, and ya gotta love having out and popping the hood every fricking time the temperature changes or ya wanna run a little lower boost..

that thing is cool and all, but by no streatch is it a replacment for the S-AFC.. and once you buy the translator, and intake pipe.. its not any cheaper..

and as for venting, you can do the same thing with the stock mas, you can buy a kit to mount it in the upper IC pipe just like the MAFT.. i forget who sells it.. thought it was dejon, but couldent find it on their site.. dunno..
