i was just curious if any has used either or and their feedback on these two brakes i'm planning on carrying them but myself i haven't used them but alot of my friends told me they love them so just curious and looking for more feedback also.

i run porterfield r4-s pads. they rock, but i don't think thats the kind of feed back your looking for. specifics please.

It's safe to say that both companies offer a quality pad. The guys at RRE love the porterfield pad and you'll find many many racers that use the hawk pads too, so to answer your question yes they are both very good. You shouldn't have a problem moving either sets. However the hawk pads tend to steer towards the guys with the Bring My Wallets. Only other people that would use Hawks would be those with specialized calipers like Wilwood or Baer. I don't know of many DSM'ers that would use Hawk, because they just don't know about them and haven't tried them.

I run Porterfield R4-S on my '95 AWD Talon and they are fantastic for the street. The R-4 pads are for the track and have a great reputation. We've run Hawk Black pads on our rally car and they work great, but like most race pads you shouldn't run them cold. They will chew through rotors when cold, but good wearing when run hot. For street the Porterfield R4-S is the best pad I've had on the car.

I run Hawk pads with the dual piston caliper upgrade on my 92 AWD and love them. They bite hard and dont fade one bit. I only paid about 50 bucks for them, that dosen't seem to expensive to me considering OEM pads are about 60. I havent tested them out autocrossing yet but Ill let you know once I get my suspension on.
