I saw threads about others porting manifolds etc etc and thought I would do my own. Here are the results. The first pics of the before and after in the collector and I matched up the exhaust housing on my 50trim to the manifold as well. Some of the runners were off quite a bit and needed to be opened up. I removed quite a bit of material in the collector and re-shaped the ports so they direct straighter into the exhaust housing of the turbo. Should work out pretty well.

It was easy enough to do, however took around 4 hours. I started with my air grinder using grinding stones to open up and shape the ports and collector how I wanted. Once I had it shaped how I felt was best I used my dremel with a sanding tool to smooth it all out.

Very nice, but I have a couple suggestions.

In pic #2 bull nose the edges a bit (Round them off). The turbine collector area is the hottest spot in the exhaust, last thing you wan is to melt the metal and/or have it slag off and go into the turbo.

In pic #4 if at the edge in the picture it heads into the collector, round that edge down. Sharp edges make turbulence.

Other than that...looks good, should breath well. :)

Jay thanks for the suggestions. #4 is sort of an optical illusion it doesn't really look like that. I will fix the collector thanks for your input.

After this both pieces are going out to be ceramic coated as well.

well, i suppose i'll post my rough pics of my turbonetics manifold i did a few months ago. these aren't what the finished product looks like

draculia your pics are what got me thinking about doing it. I just remember seeing yours and noticing that my turbonetcs manifold looks pretty pethetic in comparison. If you didn't post your pics I would have likely just left mine alone.

That was all I did, I just sent it out for ceramic coating after a few last miniute modifications. I'll post pics of the final pieces after ceramic coating for everybody to see.

Here is the final product with the ceramic coating applied.

also, im a noob to porting, how do you match up the manifold to the hot side?

the ceramic coating looks great, where did you get it done?

Yep Tial 35mm. I just took a T3 flange and drew it out on the manifold and the turbo exhaust housing and ported them out to the same size. I just used a marker and drew right on the manifold and ported out. I did the same with the head using an exhaust manifold gasket (which is larger than the holes in the head BTW...)

The ceramic coating is done by a local ceramic coating guy, nothing special same as anywhere else. You can acctually polish it with aluminum polish after the fact to make it more shiny.

With that "almost chrome" powdercoat color you can take a brill pad to it and it shines up VERY fast. Much quicker than any kind of polish.

Turbonetics manifolds should ALWAYS be cleaned up a bit.

Looks good, but should have used a stock exhaust flange to port the runners. Maybe its the pics, but it looks real huge, but then again, maybe you ported to match your oversized "D" ports on the head (if applies).

I did use a stock exhaust flange to port with. Those runners are as close as humanly possible. Some of them were off so I opened it up so it covers the entire hole, but the way it was casted it was off on a few runners so it looks a big funky. THey are matched up quite well however. I'll see if I can take a pic with the flange on it for comparison.. I also used a T3 flange for the other end...

Cool. Pics made it look alot bigger, and I haven't actually held one.
