Well, what are your goals? 1st gens that come with 14b's have 450's. So, yes, 550's are big enough. It depends on what you're looking to do with it. :dsm:

i have apexii front mount, evo3 manifolds..hks drager exhasut with downpipe...greddy type-s bov, afc, gonna get a fuel pressuer regulator waht will that put me at wheel horespower u think wit the 14b ported :dsm:

Do a quick search on SAXRULEZ he dynoed somewhere around 280 whp with a nicely supported 14b turbo and I think he didn't even had a FMIC so you should be a little over that or damn close to it. he also has a nice 13.1 slip on his FWD car.

My advice is put those 550's and tune the living hell out of your car, with the correct tuning you should see some impresive numbers for a ported 14b.

Good luck

the good tuning the 550's/255lph combo can pretty much max out the 14b and have some breathing room :thumb:

Theoretically you should be able to max out the 14b with stock 450s and a stock rewired fuel pump (2g of course), as well as a decent tune - probably couldn't do it if you're tuned too rich. That is just in mathematical terms, though. Any other issues with the car would have an effect on this, of course :)

yeah like artictsi, but u would have be have some incredible skizzles to tune that good which not a lot of us possess, also depends what you are tuning with. Artic does it with the Maft, which is what i will be using pretty soon with a keydiver chip, once my damn paypal account certifies my bank account

This thread had a dyno video of a FWD 1G-b, owned by stage2eclipse, which layed down 412 whp on a ported 14b, 110 octane, ported head, cams, FMIC and N2O. Of course, if you intend on adding nitrous at some point, then you might want to step up to a bigger injector. He's running 880's in the above example. It seems to me he could've gotten away with 780's, but maybe he's planning for future upgrades.

I've been trying to set the video up so I could post it here, but the free host I've chosen doesn't seem to be cooperating. So if anyone wants to host it, PM me. Maybe we can convince ArticTsi to repost his 14b video from that thread [as well as the other ones on his website]. :)
