polishing rim lip with dremel?..

alright i have those ugly ass water marks,or stains on my polished konig toxin lip..can i take a dremel with a polisher and get that crap off of there?..anyone have any recomendations for getting these stains off?..ive tried scrubbing and everything and they wont budge..any help would be appreciated..thanx

Put a polishing bit on, put some Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish on, and polish away. They should disappear, just keep an eye on what is happening, your lip probably has a clearcoat on it and you might not want to eat through it.

actualy i think some of the clear coating is coming off already..would it be ok to polish this all the way off or would that make the bare metal more ceptable to the elements?..thanx again

You'll take forever with a puny little Dremel, and unless you've done a lot of this work, you'll leave very spotty results. Better to use some dense foam rubber backing and wet sanding, then polish by hand.

If some of the clear coat is already coming off, you might as well remove it completely, you'll need some "Aircraft Stripper" found at AutoZone. You'll want to tape off any areas you don't want to strip, as it'll take off paint as well. Be careful with it basically. Without the clearcoat, your lip will polish to a nearly chrome finish. Keep me posted on what you do(if anything), I'm going to be doing something similar soon.

:laugh: ..yeah it does..im going to be stripping the clear coat off and probaly polishing it to a finish..but then again i did like those protege racing harts..these will be my winter rims once i get some 18's..
