So has anyone ever thought of putting a plow on a AWD dsm? How complicated would it be? I was just talking to a friend about trying to do this. Possibly putting chains on the tires to help out a little. Might be a fun experiment.

I don't think there is enough frame under a DSM to put the plow frame on. Plus you would have to raise the car up. A plow rig weighs about 300 pounds, I think it would make the rear very light. I really don't think its possible.

It does remind me of that movie Out Cold though. They had a plow on an old charger.

An ATV snow plow might be realistic.

I saw an old AWD honda civic hatch with prob a 5 foot plow on it. He was doing about 65 down the highway with it too with the plow up.

seen it pretty much all my neighboors have plows on their quads the best thing ive seen so far is a plow on a polaris ranger that thing does work my neighboor did all of our driveways on my street the other day in about 3 hours. But a dsm plow excursion im no so sure about maybe with some supper swampers/paddles and chains :hmm: give it like a month and im sure someone will upload a picture of one and make me look like a retard but ive seen some wildddd dsm themes/ideas :aha:

A unibody car with a plow, that's asking for misaligned panels and doors that don't shut right.

An ATV with a plow works awesome. Takes about 10 minutes to do the entire driveway.

eclipsekid187, your car looks like it's low enough to be a plow like it is.

    Looks Sweet though!

judging from the video doing this on a awd dsm would be feasible. on a stock one that is. anything with a bigger turbo that has alot of lag would not work out too well i would think.

i think it would be ok. I'm pretty sure my car has more power before the turbo spools than the little chevy there.

I dont think it has more torque. Usually Corsicas came with a 3.1 v6 or the 3.4. I don't thing a 4g63 w/o turbo has more power/torque than the GM v6. I know your's turbo, but it staying out of the psi territory, will not do much good. Plus DSM weigh less than Corsicas.

Well, personally I would think about doing this if I had a totaled one, like that one. Cause the extra weight of brackets and stuff would make it hard to drive otherwise. Or at the very least, make the AWD DSM into a truck ish thing to carry things here and there.

DSM Camino with a snow plow!

    I'm gonna get frowned at, aren't I?

Im sure that corsica has the 2.2 in it.

That's why you make it easily removable.

To be honest, I think it would work, but I would brace it against the larger boxed portion of the frame and across so it doesn't stress the mounting point. As for the winch portion, I'd put a pully infront of the hood on the bumper. Our hoods nearly rest on the radiator, and that assembly would make it difficult.

Other thing is transport, engine cooling, and storage. Mebbe a rear assembly so you could hook it to the back so you can drive it else where?

Good idea with the pully thing I didn't like how he had that rigged. But what i would do is use my spare crash beam/metal bumper weld the pully to there. making it detachable from the frame isn't hard at all using heat treated steel pins. Boosting only 5 to 10psi on my holset would be pretty easy (even easier on an auto). Would the car heat up just as much if i was boosting the usual 30psi? I would ###### only use it for my parking area/driveway. and if i felt generous i'd do my street.

Other thing you have to realize is the body is not set up to take stresses in that particular way and you might end up warping the body ever so slightly, giving you terrible alignment.

Other thing is I don't think you would be in boost nearly as much as you think, unless you plan on pushing snow at 30+mph. I'd keep the boost down cause higher boost needs to be cooled, and usually you're running Forward so the intercooler has new incoming air to cool it. With a plow you would have terrible flow and heat soak I would think. That's why I said it would be after the car was totaled. THAT, Or mounting a really STRONG puller fan to pull air through the intercooler.
